Tyson (Pitbull)

Tyson is a 1 year old Pitbull. We got him when he was a puppy, around Aug of 08. He likes to chew up things, run and play, play, play!

I didn't want anything to do with pits before Tyson. But he's a GREAT dog. Really changed my mind about pits. He looks mean, but he is the most loving, gentle dog. I love him!

Carley (Teacup Yorkie)

Carley is 4 years old and a Tea Cup Yorkie. My friend gave her to me just before Christmas, 4 years ago

Carley likes you to throw her toys, and ride. She tells you when to go to bed and loves ice cream. If you're sick, she's right there with you. She's my little nurse, sometimes.

Contests:

These contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners and 1 photo winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!

Today's Tips:

Use Fitted Bassinet Sheet to Keep Car Seat Cool

Here's an a-ha use for a white fitted bassinet sheet your child has outgrown: cover her dark car seat with it (while the car is parked) to keep it cool! A bassinet sheet fits nicely over a bigger kid's seat.

I've googled for this and didn't find anything, which surprises me.

Link: Free TV at Hulu.com

This website is great! You can watch all the episodes of your favorite TV show, and lots of other great programming on this site.

This website is completely "legal"; sponsored by the networks, so the quality is awesome. You can make it "full screen" so your computer looks like a TV. If you have a computer and TV with S-video you can hook up the TV to the computer and watch on your very own TV.

It's free TV entertainment, you can catch up on prior seasons or episodes that you missed. There are other videos on the site, just put it in the "search" field.

You don't have to "sign up" for it, and you don't get any "junk" mail. It's completely safe and legal. Have fun.

Rubbermaid Boxes for Storage and Furniture

I use 13 gallon Rubbermaid boxes for all my storage. I give the boxes a number, and I keep and index card with the number and the contents (general) in that box. I stack my Rubbermaids two high, and cover with a pretty sheet and the colorful Mexican serapes. They look like a long covered table, and I place books or magazines on top.

I have a window seat of Rubbermaids, that I place pillows for seating. No one would guess that I have storage containers. I do have a bed, chairs and tables. What are in my storage: clothing, underwear, books, tapes, cassettes, magazines, old electronics, cords, Beta, 8 mm, and above all, my personal journal since age 15 and I am now almost 67. Travel postcards, family pictures etc.

I have five bookcases of VHS tapes, and many more on closet shelves and Rubbermaid boxes. Some are from 1979, and they still play. I may convert all of them to DVD, but Beta was the very best format. My friends who know about my collection, calls my home "The Rubbermaid Home". It works for me.

Salt Water for Cough When Sleeping

If you get any cough while you are sleeping, try to wash your throat with any salt water. You can make salt water that adding 1 teaspoon of salt with 1/2 a glass of water. Also salt reacts against germs. It gives immediate relief and you can continue your sleep without disturbances. This has been experienced by my family and friends.

Plan Your Back to School Purchases

If you need to get back to school things for your children, but don't have enough money for everything they want, here is a tip that may help you. Your children might want new clothes, backpacks, and etc. but you can't afford all of it. Start out planning what you will get, starting with your kids supplies.

When you have planned it all out with how much you will spend on your kids supplies, decide how much money you have left. Let's say you only have $100 left, it's okay, you can still get you kids new backpacks, and maybe one or two pairs of new clothes. Money doesn't fall from the sky, but if you spend it wisely it might just seem like money really does fall from the sky.

Keep a Shopping List on Your Computer

I keep a running list on my computer and update it every time I go shopping. It has 5 columns on it: Date

  • Item (including brand name)
  • Size
  • Price
  • Store This helps me in 2 ways. First, it helps me to know how much I have to spend the next time out. Plus it helps me remember what brands to get and where. It also helps me keep track of the rise and fall of prices.

    Stretch Liquid Fabric Softener

My favorite is Snuggle Jojoba Creme, but now without a coupon, it is getting harder to justify paying full price for it. I don't care much for the scent or softening of cheaper brands, and end up using more, so am not getting a good deal anyway. So I saved my last empty softener bottle, bought a new one, then poured half in the old bottle, and filled both up with tap water. The scent is just as good, and the softening is actually better---the towels don't feel as 'sticky' as they were before.

I am sure that everyone else has thought of this already, but it just occurred to me, before I threw the last empty bottle away! (We have very little recycling abilities where I live).

Wash Hands With Sergents To Keep Fleas Away

If you are in the country and find you have fleas, add Sergents to Original Irish Spring. You will see that both are the same color and basically the same thickness. The Irish Spring sent will cover the smell of the Sergents and give you that much little bit of extra protection.

    Vanity for Retro 1920s Bathroom

I was hoping you all could help me with a decision. I'm almost done with my first do-it-yourself bathroom makeover. I'm trying to create a 1920s to 30s looking bathroom. I added faux crown molding, stripped, and stained the wood trim a dark brown, and painted the walls a dark sage green.

I got a great deal on a claw foot tub at a salvage auction. The floor is a small circular white tile with a black design. All I need now is the bathroom vanity and I can't decide. I'm on a budget so I'm getting the bath vanity from Home Living at www.homelivingstyle.com

I need a double sink vanity, but I was also thinking of getting two single sinks. If anyone has any suggestions or tips I'd be happy to hear them. Thank you all in advance. I have no design style so this will really help.

Homecoming Float Ideas With American Dance Theme

I am planning the senior homecoming float. The theme is American Dance. I desperately need help thinking of a way to decorate our float using some really creative ideas.

I was thinking of using hip hop for the theme, because I figured it was the most popular American dance. However, I also thought of a mix; like hip hop, country, that kind of stuff. So if any one has Ideas that would be awesome. So just like ideas for what the float would look like and what we can do as like a skit. Thanks so much.

    Water Filter for KitchenAid Refrigerator

I have "inherited" with the purchase of a house, a Kitchenaid refrigerator, model KSRS25QAWH01. It needs a water filter; there is none in place currently. On my other refrigerators the water filter is inside the unit, but this line is accessible only in the front of the unit behind the grille where the condenser coils are.

I do have literature for this model (guessing it is 15 years old) and it recommends a filter called a MICRON 5. When I google it, nothing comes up. Is there perhaps anyone out there who knows if I can put another filter on this model and if so which one? Thanks.
