How do I remove a burn mark on a wood dining room table? We put down hot food on a paper plate. Thanks.

I have gotten burn marks and water marks off my wood table by using a fine grit steel wool pad. But dont rub too hard or you'll rub the finish off.. just rub enough to get the stain off.

My mom always got these type of marks up by taking mayonaise and covering the spot with it generously. She would leave on their for up to an hour or longer if needed. (Be sure it's not reduced fat mayo)

Haley's book about household tips addresses this.
