Today's Tips
Here is a use for an old Velveeta box and lid. Cut thin pieces of cardboard slightly smaller then the width of the Velveeta box. Wrap embroidery floss around the cardboard and store in the box. Makes it easy to organize colors. Cover the outside with contact paper or paint.

Don't throw men's shirts into the rag bin when they become a little stained or frayed. Use it as a "paint shirt" when cooking. The sleeves protect your clothing better than aprons and kids love to wear them while helping out in the kitchen. I have short sleeve for summer cooking and long sleeved that I roll to my elbows for winter days in the kitchen.

Packing a Lunch - Not Soggy Sandwiches
I recently went on an airplane and bought one of the sandwiches they had available. The sandwich was not thrifty, but was actually very good, and was not at all soggy like most pre-packaged sandwiches.

Sweetening Popcorn - Kettle Corn Alternative
To make a simple sweet popcorn snack just sprinkle your freshly popped unbuttered popcorn with salt and sugar to taste. Kids love this and it is much easier to make than kettle corn or caramel corn.

Free Information on Product Website
I see so many people asking for tips and recipes for using name brand products. Most of these have great consumer web sites with all kinds of info. (Tide for example has many stain and spot removal tips: Campbells has a lot of recipes). Just type in www.the name of product.com.

Make a Christmas Tree With Junk CDs
Last Christmas I made a tree out of the old and advertising CD's and bought a string of lights and taped each bulb in the center of each disc. The reflection was pretty and we had a neat yard decoration. Just be sure to use outdoor lights and cord.

I truly trust in WD-40. Here's some good examples of what students can use it for. Remove leftover adhesive from new binders, backpacks and other accessories. Lubricate chains on bicycles. Clean and shine lockers. Penetrate stuck bolts on skateboard trucks. Help remove gum from hallways and classroom floors. Stop squeaks on and lubricate folding parts of scooters.

Buy for Items for Christmas Gift Baskets All Year
Throughout the year, after Christmas and until before Christmas of the next year, whenever you see a bargain gift, buy it -- whatever it may be. Put the bargain in storage or in a gift closet or space. Then during Christmas time, take the bargains out and separate them by his, hers, and unisex. Buy some big, cheap baskets in a thrift shop and fill them up with your bargains. Use tissue as filler, then wrap the baskets up with cellophane and put on bows. Your receivers will have a unique bounty of goodies. Don't worry if the bargains aren't part of a theme, as long as they are appropriate to the gender, it won't matter.

Take an empty Pringles can and cover it with pretty paper, fabric or paint. In the plastic lid cut small X's to insert your knitting needles. This will keep them all in one place and fits nicely on a table.

When my mom passed away I made a window to the past in honor of her. I found an old window with the glass still intact and filled each section with things and pictures from her life. In one I had her baby picture and a bonnet that she wore. Another had a family picture of her mom and dad and sister. Another had her high school graduation picture along with her program and the gloves she wore. The next was her and my dad and I added a corsage she had saved. I think you get the picture. For the backing of this window I used cardboard and I covered it with black fabric to set off the mostly black and white pictures. I then hung it on my wall. Many people in my life have loved my idea and have made their own windows to the past.

Don't Throw Away Those Board Games
Many companies will send you replacement parts for free or for a nominal fee (shipping and handling). Many of the major game companies have web sites where you can request parts and instructions for games. Lost the rules to the game? I found this web site that has lots of rules to many board games,

Keeping The Kids Busy On Long Car Trips
Buy some of the new clipboards that have a compartment in the bottom. Fill with paper crayons and car games. Some car games can be found on the internet and just printed out. Add crossword books or word search puzzle books for older children. Everyone has their own container which results in less fighting and less of "When are we going to get there?"

New Requests:
I am having difficulty finding a place to purchase colored contac paper. I am looking for yellow, slate blue, kelly green, as well as the red. I have found some red and royal blue in packages of squares, but no rolls and no kelly green. Can anyone out there help me? I've found one website that has these colors, but they only sell it in CASES, I don't need that much.
Thanks!

Do Green Peppers Grow Back On the Same Tree?
My husband has gotten to be quite the gardener. We have been growing our first batch of green peppers this year. We didn't even know they grew on a tree till now. Anyway, we were wondering if we should pull out the tree once all the peppers have grown for the season or should we keep the tree planted for next year's arrivals of green peppers? Do they sprout on the sam tree yearly? Or do you have to replant seeds yearly? I feel kind of ignorant with this question, but we just don't know. Help! Thanks!

Baby Oil Stains on Jogging Pants
I got baby oil on my swooshy pants (like jogging pants) and have no idea how to get it out, I am pretty sure it will stain. I haven't washed them yet because I am not sure what to do. It happened today. Any tips please! I just bought them.
Thanks,
