While relaxing along the river at Nesika County Park with my husband and our two dogs, this little critter decided to make friends with us. He swam near us, sun-bathed near us, and even got brave enough to decide to crawl towards and inspect my camera. Salamanders are very common on the Oregon Coast and a constant entertainer to children of all families!

How sweet! Wish I'd been there, I've only seen salamanders in pictures. It would've been an unforgettable experience for this Midwesterner.
