Reuse Fancy Chocolate Containers

I use the empty Ferrero Rocher box (it's plastic and clear and I already enjoyed the chocolates) for my jewelry, also for storage on my dresser for odds and ends that get scattered all over. You can see in the box at a glance. Easy to stack out of the way or even in the open since box is rather pretty.

Family: Father And Son Photos

A little boy, his daddy, sunshine and water. it doesn't get any better than that! It's hard to tell which one is having the most fun!

I took this picture of my "little boy" with his little boy on a recent visit. As for this grandmother, my heart was filled not only from the warmth of the sun, but even more from seeing my "baby" enjoying being a daddy.

Recycle Business Cards As File Tab Inserts

I was going through some old business cards thinning out the desk today. I came across clear file tabs at the same time.

I noticed that the shorter edge of the card was the same width as the shorter tabs, and the length of the cards were the same as the longer tabs.

This seemed like a wonderful way to recycle the cards.

With the subject written on the card before I trimmed, I was able to use five or six the shorter width, and 4 the longer width.

They are stiffer than paper, and if you are going to recycle them anyway, why not use them a second time!

Shad-o (Chihuahua/Shih-Tzu)

Shad-o is a 14 week old Chihuahua/Shih-tzu. I got my pet from my sister as a Christmas gift in January 2009. Shad-o loves playing outside especially with his older brother. Shad-o is a bundle of joy to have, he's very playful and a very happy dog. Very smart and so cute!

Save on New Movies With Pay Per View

You can save money on new(er) movies by seeing them on pay-per-view on your cable. I saw a new one on the IFC pay-for-view that I just saw reviewed in the paper, as you can get it on cable at the same time as its independent release - and at $5.99 for hubby and me, that's a real saving!

Who Remembers Paper Dolls?

These days children don't even know what they are. If it doesn't plug into a TV or computer, kids don't know what it is! My 5 year old granddaughter's favorite words are "play with me". I try to find crafts to make, cutting out pictures, coloring, glitter, drawing; she loves it all.

One day I drew a paper doll and cut it out. I cut out a few outfits that fit, and she played for hours. She even took it home and played with it. Who knew that something so simple could out do video games?

Waterproof Printer Ink

I do outdoor craft fairs adn I need printer ink that does not run or smear when it rains! Epson printers have waterproof ink. With my Epson printer I don't have to worry about my business cards, brochures or signs running if it rains! Before owning an Epson printer with "dura-brite" ink I would have to laminate or spray a sealer over all my business cards, brochures and paperwork. Epson ink has not only saved me time and money, but my printed paperwork is now so much more professional looking!

With waterproof ink I don't have to worry if a customer gets one of my brochures wet and there's no worry about the ink smearing on to their clothing. I also love the way Epson ink doesn't fade in sunshine, it's also archival, prints out excellent photos and very professional looking greeting cards! I wonder why no other printers have waterproof ink? This ink is amazing, I've actually held a printed item under a faucet of running water and the ink didn't run or fade one bit!

How To Teach Your Children To Cook

I am helping my young granddaughter-in-law learn how to cook. I know she will come over one of her days off and I think ahead to what she might enjoy eating that would be good for her. I get the ingredients before hand, and when she's settled in for her visit, I suggest we have tea and _______, whatever is the planned dish. Sometimes it's oatmeal raisin walnut cookies, sometimes it's a dinner dish.

I give her simple tasks as we assemble the food, and as I cook from scratch, I explain what I'm doing as I do it, and what are other alternative ways of cooking the dish I've tried over my lifetime, and how it worked out, or didn't as the case may be. She's learning at a mellow pace, which is good, since I tend to overdo 'teaching' and I always send her and my grandson home with something nice, tasty, and healthy, that is slightly different than they would have, just for variety.

All of my grandsons cook well.

Research Online for Best Car Part Prices

Save money on your car repairs by researching the price of the parts, and perhaps buying the part on your own. Many automotive shops charge up the price of the part and pass it on to the consumer. As one of the mechanics told me today (as my car is in the shop), this is one of the ways they made money. Well, I can appreciate their need to make money, while I have a need to SAVE it!

This became clear as I was quoted around $600.00 to replace my distributor. The part was supposedly going to cost $450.00. I panicked a little. After doing research online, I found the correct new OEM part for $154.00! A savings of $300.00.

Good repair shops will agree to install a part that you provide to them, although they will not likely warranty the part. But, the manufacturer or retailer selling the part typically does provide such a warranty for the part, so who cares?

Find out what part your car may need, then do a google search, check E-Bay, etc. I've done this several times on cars I have owned and saved hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Even if you have to pay to have a professional install it, so what? You can at least save money on the part itself!

Removing Pet Urine Smell From Carpet

I read this tip on a cleaning site, thought it might be helpful. It is for removing urine smell from a carpet. Mouthwash. While it may not clean the actual stain, it will remove the odor. Create a mixture of water and mouthwash, where you use two times as much water as mouthwash. Spray the mixture onto the area where the urine is and allow it to sit for a couple of hours. Place a couple of newspapers over the wet area and then vacuum the area once it's dry. The area will smell like the mouthwash for a day or two, but you will not smell the urine again.

Dear Webby's Joke of the Day

A customer sent an order to a distributor for a large amount of goods totaling a great deal of money. The distributor noticed that the previous bill hadn't been paid. The collections manager left a voice-mail for them saying, "We can't ship your new order until you pay for the last one."

The next day the collections manager received a phone call, "Please cancel the order. We can't wait that long."

Black Snakes in Trees?

Black snakes are a good thing! It must be Spring as our Black Snake is back. Black snakes will keep your property clean of rodents as well as Starlings (bird) that nest around the roof area of your home. They, at least ours, is not aggressive at all. This year our buddy made his grand entry in our house, that we are remodeling. He/she was hanging by his/her tail over the back door, doing twists and turns like an acrobat. \

Our Jack Russell Terrier discovered it first and started barking. Knowing it was the Black snake back, we just let it do it's thing and be on it's way. Later we saw it crawling around the gutters on our shed. Personally, I know a Black snake when I see one but I can certainly appreciate some people wouldn't have a clue what a Black snake looks like compared to a venomous snake, which brings me to my question.

Is it true that Black snakes are the only type snake that will crawl around house rafters or other high places in your house? I was told that venomous snakes are considered earth snakes that may crawl high on a mountain top but not in a home. If that is true, it may save many Black snakes lives if people knew that.

Please don't kill Black snakes as they are gentle and do a good job keeping unwanted rats, mice and yes those pesty birds called Starlings.

25th Anniversary Gift Ideas

Ideas needed for 25th wedding anniversary gift for my cousin and his wife. I only see them once a year and don't know them very well personally. They are country folk but very opposite from each other.

There are no special memories or photos that I could put together for some kind of album or collage. They live 3 hours away from us, so I am not familiar with their area. Has anyone ever come up with a neat idea that they use often for such occasions?

Saving Plants Through The Winter

Dear Ellen,

I just read a post that you responded to about Strawberry Plants in pots in the winter. I am hoping you can give a little clarification. You told the gentlemen that he could keep them in the garage, but he did not ask if he would need to water them during the winter.

Are the plants going to survive the winter without moisture? I will be doing the same type of thing, but don't know if I should provide regular watering or not. Thanks so much for your help.
