Royal Products Recalls Pine Cone Candles (Fire Hazard)

Royal Products Inc., of Brooklyn, N.Y. recalls about 2,700 Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candles.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candles

Units: About 2,700

Importer: Royal Products Inc., of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Hazard: The candle's exterior coating and beads can ignite and catch fire. The fire resulting from the coating and beads on the exterior of the candle could ignite nearby combustibles.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of a candle fire causing minor property damage. CPSC has received one report of a flare up with damage contained to the candle. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the Vivre Royale Pine Cone Candle, Item Number 41419. The item number is located on the packaging of the product. The warning label on the bottom of the packaging states, "Made in China. Royal Products Inc." The candle is shaped like a pine cone. The candle wax is purple inside and the coating on the outside of the candle is brown and gold. There are small clear beads all over the outside of the candle.

Sold through: Specialty stores nationwide from October 2005 through December 2006 for between $12 and $15.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return them to the place of purchase for an exchange or full refund.
