A friend and I are starting a new business as personal shoppers. We will organise house cleaning, grocery purchase, pets to the vet, just about anything. And we would like a snappy name to register our business as. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year to all.
Angela

There is a really cool naming website that people sign up on and make money by coming up with names for businesses and products, the person who needs a name only pays $80.00. it's a really cool system they have, you guys should check out www.namajig.com. It's a new website.

I apologize. In my previous post, I don't think I listed the URL of that site correctly. it is http://www.start-house-cleaning-business.com.

They have a lot of free information about starting a cleaning business. Also offer consulting.

I think having a name like "Mary's Cleaning Service" isn't usually a good idea. What if you sell the business? It's no longer Mary's business. right?

Also, having a person's name makes the business sound like it's run by an individual - suggesting "mom and pop". I prefer having a name that sounds a bit more "corporate" or "professional".

There are some good hints and thoughts on naming a cleaning company at www.start-house-cleaning-business.com

Forget about "White Glove", in my opinion. here are dozens of cleaning businesses around the country called White Glove.

May I please extend my sincere thanks to all the kind people who replied to my request for a snappy business name. Particular thanks to Becki of Indiana, for "At Your Service". You will be pleased to know that a small business in the beautiful South Pacific islands of New Zealand now carries your suggested name.
Many many thanks to you all.
Angela and Michelle

How about "At Your Service"? You'd still be close to the start of the phone book ....

ALL 4 U This would be listed near the front of a telephone directory. Because you will be doing a variety of services rather than only one...ALL tells it as it is.

Yellow pages listings are alphabetical. I suggest you pick a name close the front of the alphabet so it will be listed first. Unfortuantely, people pick up the Y P and often start calling from the beginning of the section.

Hi Angela
If you are serious, get a name that you can get a domain name for, because sooner or later you will need a web site.

For example: GoForMe
GoForMe.biz is still available. I can register it for you for $10 per year.

Pretty soon, not having a web page is like not being in the phone book. The shorter and the more memorable your name is, the more valuable it is.
Even if you don't plan to open a web page for a few years, nail down the name before somebody else does.

Compared to the cost of a custom license plate that is only good for one state, a world wide domain name registration is the bargain of the millenium.

My friend and I started a business similar to yours about 10 yrs. ago and we called ourselves the Dynamic Duo. We made up flyers listing everything we would do. Our motto was " Let us turn your frown upside down." Before we knew it we had more work than we could handle.
