With all the use your bathroom gets on a daily basis it's easy for it to get messy and disorganized. Keeping your bathroom organized and clean is the best way to ensure it's comfortable for your family and guests to use. This is a guide about organizing your bathroom.
With regards to children and their washroom habits, I have found from time and motherhood that children and youths have some main things each of them need and it is a little different for each person. If the things are all left sitting in the washroom, there is a mess and other mysterious things happen to some items.
I quit trying to solve the mysteries and came up with this solution. I first color coded each of the people so the toothbrushes were not mixed up. Then I used this code for the combs, brushes, and a container to hold all these washroom needs.
Each child got a container just big enough for the 10 to 15 items that will be used in the washroom. The container was to be taken in to the washroom with them. They did all that is needed and then took the items in the container back to their bedroom.
I had a well lit spot outside of the washroom for the girls to do their make up and not keep the washroom busy too long. Mom and Dad had a dressing table also to do all the last minute prep work before rushing to grab a bite to eat and run out the door.
The family found vacation time easier also because I got them travel pouches with their color taped on it. Trips to a washroom if we went camping were organized and there were less losses of personal items. As my children grew, their collection grew also so they had a few containers with labels on them. This habit is still with them for several areas of their life.

I always found my bathroom counter becoming cluttered with many items from hairbrushes, to deodorant, to body spray, etc. To minimize the clutter, I purchased a clear pocket shoe organizer that hangs over the door. I didn't want it on the door so I hung it in the "dead space" behind the door. Bathroom counter is now clean!
This also helps in seeing when someone is running low on deodorant, hair product, shaving cream or anything else. This gives me the option to watch for sales and also coupons when someone is running low when they forget to tell me.
This has saved us time in cleaning and money in shopping.

Don't have enough space to store all your toiletries in the bathroom? Hang a see-through shoe bag on the back of the door. Everything slips right in and you can see what you need. If there is a lot of people in your family each can have a row of their own.

Keep sticky notes inside cabinet doors in your bathroom(s). When you run out or are low on an item, write it down. When it's time to shop, pick up your mini lists and you'll have everything written down.

I have an open wicker bookcase that is oval shaped with three shelves in my bathroom. It has three shelves that are deep and will hold tall items. The shelves have large scarf doilies on them to prevent items from falling through to the floor. On one shelf I store my earrings in trinket boxes (the jewelry is separated by color and size); bracelets in an antique bath powder box, ankle bracelets in a small decorative tin box.). I use a wooden mug holder to hold my large necklaces. I attached large paper clips to the openings in the wicker and hang necklaces according to the chain length either on the inside of the shelves or the longer chain necklaces on the side of the large shelf; I can't quickly locate an accessory for my outfits.
There is a shelf that holds my hair products that are in a basket, a pretty flower pot holds brushes, combs. A decorative box holds make-up. Lotions, moisturizers, etc. are contained in flat baskets at the back of the the shelf.
The bottom shelf stores bath towels/hand towels which are rolled up in a tight roll.
My hair dryer/curling iron hang on a shelf designed for them; instead of wrapping the cords around the shelf, I keep a wicker plant basket underneath the shelf on the floor, the cords can fall into the open basket and stay neat.
My vanity is next to the wicker shelf so I have everything I need available to prepare for the day at my fingertips. The top of the vanity holds a tray with my deodorant, eye glass cleaner, standing eyeglass holder, a small glass tray with medications for the day, a decorative pitcher that holds dental care items and a pretty juice glass for water. I have a large walk-in closet in the bathroom; I organize my clothes on a hook on the back of the closet door including shoes underneath the outfit; the accessories are on the wicker shelf nearby; I keep my purse on a hook hanging in the closet.
I keep an early morning schedule to arrive at work so I have to be organized to be ready for the day by 5:30 a.m.!
Originally, some time ago, I purchased a wire, 3 tier, hanging basket for my kitchen with the intent to put onions and potatoes in. Finding that it was too long for the spot I intended it to go, I found the perfect place that it would be needed in, my bathroom!
Since I was faced with the problem of an overwhelmed countertop filled with this and that, I decided to hang the basket to get rid of some of the clutter. One basket was used to combs and brushes, the second used for storing hair accessories such scrunchies, and the third for easy to grab bandaids, ointments, and such. I also used the chains that held each tier to clip on different sized hair clips and bows. All ready for use at a glance!
Since then I have incorporated the use of the wire baskets, which can be purchased at a local dollar store, throughout the home. They make great organizers in a youngsters bedroom too.

Need more storage space in your bathroom for all of your toiletry items? If you're like me, your bathroom cabinet can't hold all of your beauty items and causes constant disarray. We found a simple solution by purchasing inexpensive but well-made rectangular baskets (without handles) and arranging them on our bathroom wall, securing them with screws. It provided immediate decor for the bathroom and tons more storage space for all of your beauty items.

For extra bathroom storage, add small buckets to hang on hooks under the medicine cabinet.

I need storage ideas for my too deep drawers! My bathroom is incredibly disorganized! It's tiny to begin with, but on top of that, I only have 3 drawers (2 of which are pointlessly deep) and a small under cabinet space. My two biggest problems are organizing my hair stuff (tons of bottles that can't stand up in the drawers) and storing my stockpiled items. Any ideas?

The dollar store is a great resource to find organizing tools. Different size boxes with lids or silverware holders can be used. Also look in the children's or infant's area for storage ideas. Another good idea is to store towels in a basket on the floor. These ideas worked well for me.
We are redoing our bathroom and I saw a great idea on TV. They used concrete forms and cut them to desired thickness and placed them on the wall. Then they put face clothes, etc. in them.
The problem: the concrete forms I found were reasonable, but about 3 times as much as I need. Any other suggestions for round/cylinder shapes? The only other idea I have is a baby formula can (cardboard) that I can cut to size.

Try PVC pipe. It comes in all sizes, cuts easily, is lightweight and inexpensive. Look online http://www.houzz.com/photos/367832/DIY--Rachelle-Falcon---for a sample of this used as a wine rack. Empty paint cans work well, too. Most paint stores sell them, and the finish is similar to chrome.
If you're short on space in the bathroom, there are a number of ways you can optimize the space you do have to work with. Here are some ideas that have worked great for our family:
I need some suggestions for organizing my (slightly large) bathroom. I need to organize shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and my makeup.
The other day I found a very nice, large canvas shoe caddy on the clearance rack at Wal-mart for $5. The package was missing is why it was on there. I have five kids and there isn't enough room in the bathroom for all of their things. I hung the shoe caddy on my kids' bathroom wall behind the door for them to organize their hair brushes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotions, etc. The older kids' things are up top out of the 3 year olds reach and he gets his own spot down below. A wire basket with a handle can double your bathroom counter or top of dresser space if you use both the basket and the handle for storage.
I use this old stage prop - column, to display my dear grandmother's ceramic wash set, it wouldn't suit many bathroom decors, but I like green.
