What is a Loss of Load Probability (LOLP)?

A measure of the probability that a system demand will exceed capacity during a given period; often expressed as the estimated number of days over a long period, frequently 10 years or the life of the system.

How to calculate the loss of load probability?

It is a method to calculate power system (electrical network) reliability. It combines the probability that certain load could occur with the probability that certain amount of generation could deliver it.
