I buy bacon ends in 2 kg boxes (about 4 lbs.) and run them through my grinder. Then cook. Put in jars and keep in freezer. You have cooked bacon bits anytime you want. At a fraction of the cost to buy them.
I also keep the fat for using in other recipes.

I like the idea of using bacon ends. Can I grind/chop them up, fry them and then can them in a pressure caner?
