Horse chestnuts and buckeyes are not the same thing. Although similar in appearance the trees grow to very different heights and spans. Also they are in the same family but not the same genus or species.

To be sure of getting buckeyes, check the genus name Aesculus. They're also called horse-chestnuts, and the Ohio buckeye is hardy down to zone 7, and is found round Nashville.

Buckeyes and Chestnuts are not the same thing. There is a town in West Virginia that is named Buckeye because of all the buckeye trees. I have never come across any trees in Lowes or Nurseries in our area.

I would go to nurseries in the area, and ask for a horse chestnut tree. I grew up in Baltimore County and married someone from Ohio, and was told they are horse chestnuts.

We have Mexican buckeye trees in our yard but we live in Texas. We always have lots of seeds make and new sprouts come up every year.
