I used catalogchoice.com for a while, but eventually when an unwanted catalog arrived, I went straight to the company's web site and sent them a customer service email requesting they stop the print catalog. I always included my name and address exactly as shown on the catalog, plus any code numbers (usually in a yellow and/or blue box). This has worked like a charm; I used to get several catalogs A DAY and now I only receive the few I actually want. (There's one jewelry company, Ross Simon, that just ignores all requests to stop. Fine with me, their loss on the cost of postage.)
I think it is catalogchoice.com There have been several posts about this before. I have gone to the web-site and got myself off a lot of mailing lists. Sometimes it takes a while because a lot of these places have their mailings set up in advance, but it does work. Especially with the holidays coming.
There is also a request form you can pick up and fill out at your local post office. If I remember correctly there are actually two forms, one for catalogs and one for general junk mail.
Well, to be honest you can't stop them all. You can eliminate alot of them though.
First off, if there are catalogs you get all the time call them and tell them to take you off their mailing list.
There are also three registries you can sign up on and request your name added to them to reduce junk mail. Off hand I don't have that info but if you do some snooping at clarkhoward.com you might find them. If not there just do a search on Google or some place for Junk Mail Registry and see what you get. Or No Junk Mail.
How do I stop junk mail in snail mail?
