Purchasing a Small Dog?

Can any one help me find a small dog? We just lost our faithful companion of 14 years. I have been searching all over with no luck. We had a shihtzu. Can anyone tell me where i can purchase another small dog? Hopefully in central ny. Any thing you do will be greatly apreciated.

if you go online key in animal shelters or log directly onto petfinders.org if you want one from breeder and buyer beware too many puppymills masking as breeders punch up the breed name in your search box a lot of animals out there i am in animal rescue so i know

How about visiting your local animal shelter to look for a new small companion? It's not only less expensive, but you'll help save a life!

Pets are so special and I'm sorry for your loss. Have you tried your local SPCA? They have alot of good dogs and puppies that need homes.

If you don't like spending alot of money, you could have one that might have their shots and some are already fixed.

My girls are 20 & 21 now.....they have never got tired of her.

If you are looking to rescue a puppy, I would suggest Petfinder.com. Just enter your zipcode and they will show you the closest puppies to you.

Be very careful if buying a dog that has been bred so
many have been over bred so be careful.
Try a shelter you will be surprised and feel good also.

Try petfinder.com. Also, try any breed specific rescue groups on the internet. You will find many.

Most counties have shelters overflowing with good pets that need a home for a variety of reasons. Just because someone else no longer wanted the animal does NOT mean the animal is "bad"; more likely just a family that no longer has time or energy to care for the pet. Fees will vary, but the pet comes to you neutered, shots updated, healthy and sometimes even microchipped. Well worth the $100 we paid for our 6 year old, WELL TRAINED dog. We couldn't be happier.

Good luck!
