BOY! ... Now THAT'S brilliant.... Put something flammable in PLASTIC, then sell it to the public!
YIKES!

--> Yes, we also know the heartbreak of candle fires... A candle caused extensive damages to my mothers house (I was renting)... Even though the main damage was only in 2 rooms, the smoke damage was EVERYWHERE being that the fire was right next to the "fresh-air intake" for the furnace... The smoke was circulated ALL THROUGH the house... (because of the furnace)... Fires go up QUICKLY!... Before you know it, they take over.... Know where your fire extinguishers are & test them once or twice a year to know that they really DO work, & teach your kids how to use them too!
* People, Do yourselves a FAVOR, ACTUALLY READ your home insurance policy... My mom's policy was changed to a "renters" policy when she moved out even though (after the fire) she found out they'd given her a policy that didn't cover very much... Because she only rented to FAMILY (me & my sister) she was still eligible for the better policy she had before... but they went & changed it without asking her if family was moving in as "renters"... & she basically got screwed in the process... as they said one thing & wrote down something else on the policy.... (She's not the type who sues)
* Ask your insurers: Does my policy cover "cost of REPLACEMENT"?... & do you take off what you'll pay for carpet & furniture for every year older it is... (& after something is 7 years old, they'll pay NOTHING to replace it!)... Just do yourselves a favor, ask a lot of questions of your insurance provider & TAPE RECORD the conversation, as they may tell you ONE THING & write the policy for SOMETHING ELSE!... Keep the tape recording in a safe place, like a safety deposit box, or make a second copy & keep it at a relatives house...
*PLUS, it doesn't hurt to video tape your home's insides & it's contents....
Alas, some things can't be replaced... due to sentimental reasons...
---> But, when it comes down to it... The only thing that matters, is, Did everyone get out of the house quickly & safely!?
It's a shame that we found out too late about the possible dangers of these candles. At the beginning of January, our church lost its rectory due to a terrible fire from a candle. Every thing was destroyed from our priest's residence to the office equipment that was housed in the rectory. By the Grace of God our priest escaped with just the clothes on his back. And the few personal possessions that he owned in this world all went up in flames. He was taken by ambulance and was treated for smoke inhalation and a few minor burns on his hands.
The church family rallied and all worked together and he was showered with gift cards. He was outfitted with all new clothes. Now the church has to work and rebuild a new rectory.
