It is me again, this time I got bleach on my nice light blue and white stripe shirt. Do you know how to get it out. I was trying to fix a shirt that I messed up when it happened. Thanks.

There's a small bleach spot on one of my favorite shirts! I guess with a permanent marker will do it. I don't know, someone tell me if that's a good idea or not.

I was cleaning my shoes with bleach (don't ask) and I was wearing my new navy blue shirt. When I got done I was like OH MY GOSH! There was 4 reddish white spots on there. I tried washing it to make the color bleed and I also tried to put permanent marker on it.

I bleach certain colored clothes like my husbands uniforms (he is a plumber) and if done with the right amount of bleach it does not hurt them. I put washer on largest load and put 2 oz bleach in and then 1 full cap of detergent let fill all the way up and let agitate for about 2 min. before putting clothes in DO NOT PUT BRIGHT FULLY COLORED CLOTHES IT WILL BLEACH. but clothes that have white stripes and smaller areas of color this does work. oh yeah and please do not ever mix bleach and amonia this is to the person who tried to take bleach out of clothes with it. when these two chemicals are mixed together the result is a dangerous vapor that can kill you please be careful and read all warning labels on chemicals before use.

You can't get bleach out, it's takes color out period. You can evenly bleach whatever it was though to even out the color, then buy some dye to dye it back or to whatever shade you like (don't ruin any other clothes while doing these). I've done this for various gap shirts that always seem to end up with lighter pink spots on them, aargh. but at least by evening the color out I can wear them again, even if they're not longer the color that they once were.

I got a brand new shirt on, second time I wear it. I loaded my laundry and bleach had spilled on top of the laundry machine. So I got a brown bleached to pink strip and blotches on my front.
I tried to use ammonia and vinegar, no luck. I then tried to use a dremel with a sandpaper head to just scratch and get the bleached fabric off. Well it scratched too far and left a tiny hole in my shirt and made it really thin in areas, and it really did not work, it looks the same.
I'm just going back to the store and buy another shirt and bit the bullet. I'm too distraught, my nice expensive shirt ruined.

ok you all seem to say that bleach cant be undone BUT if the bleach hasnt soaked through the whole garment spray it with hairspray and for a couple of days scrub at it. the remaining unbleached area should be seen after a couple of days of scrubbing.

please help me i was cleaning my sink with bleach then decide to wash my dress in the sink ahhhhhhhh bleach spots all over it!! how can i get it OUT.
Editor's Note: The simple answer is once bleach has taken the color out of something, you can't get the spots out, you need to recolor or redye the areas that were bleached.

RE: Getting Bleach out of Colored Clothes
If you get a bleach spot on something, you can try to very carefully fill in and match the spot with a marker, a ball point of the same color, a lipstick (say for magenta, applied with a cotton swab), even eyeshadow for lighter colors (The eyeshadow washes out & has to be re-applied.) If you have a light stain, you can use washable color marker loosely applied & spread it evenly by moistening it. So deal with the SPOT, not the whole garment...

I was cleaning the bathroom with clorox when i reached over to wipe the mirror and i now have a bleach stain in my favorite victoria secret shorts. They are soooo cute and they are actually magenta so it turned white and now they look totally disgusting. Ughh... I can never wear them again!
Editor's Note: Bleach is very strong and will take the color out of most anything. Make sure to dilute it 1 part bleach to 10 parts water when you use it for cleaning.

OKay the other night i accidently got bleach on my favorite american eagle sweater and i don't know how to get it out the sweater is brown if that helps someone help me!
Editor's Note: Bleach removes color so there is no way to "get it out". You will have to redye the area that was bleached.

Word to the Wise, not just bleach will leave white spots on denim. I have learned the hard way that when using bleach or other strong stain removers to protect the clothing I am wearing while applying the stain remover AND while pouring bleach or any presoak or stain remover into the washer. Splashes have ruined too many of my clothes.

I just went into my bathroom today and saw that there is bleach spots on my favorite purple victorias secret bathrobe, that I got as a gift a few months ago. Its light purple so I don't believe there is any way to even hide it. I am so disappointed in myself and I'm sure my boyfriend (he gave it to me) will be just as disappointed when he finds out what happened. Sorry to vent on here, didn't know where else to go. I feel each person's pain in this type of situation.

I know there is no way of getting bleach out.. but i read somewhere if you re dye an article of clothing it will get a hole in it. Is this true?. I just got bleach on a pair of sweat pants i got about 6 hours ago and i'm pretty mad. Their is just a small spot. If I cover it in permanent marker enough will the marker eventually stay instead of me having to re apply it every time i wash them?
Editor's Note: Whenever you get bleach on something, make sure to rinse it as soon as possible. Whether or not it develops a hole (where the bleach was) really depends on the type of fabric and how long the bleach was there before it was rinsed out. You may be able to find something that will cover the spot and look pretty good but you just might need to recolor it after you wash them.

I accidently put bleach in a load of darks and ruined my two favorite tee shirts. After alot of soaking and dyeing and even the use of a perminant marker the spots are still visable and possibly worse because of the sharpy. Does anyone have any old-school (or new-school whatever works) tricks I could use?

RE: Getting Bleach out of Colored Clothes
Sadly, you can't get bleach discoloring out because it is not a stain, it is a place where the dye has been permanently removed. Don't try to redye it without removing the rest of the color. You will add color to the white spot, but also to the surrounding darker area, making it even darker, so the spot will still be visible. Sometimes it is possible to use RIT dye remover to remove or at least lighten the rest of the dye in the garment and then redye it. This doesn't always work. DON'T try to take the rest of the dye out with more bleach. The amount you need would probably weaken or damage the fibers. If this isn't possible, try your hand at embellishing over the problem, or maybe you will have to reuse the fabric for something else, like a pillow, if seeing it wouldn't be too much of a bad reminder. Good luck!

HELP ME PLEASE! I got some bleach on the bottom of my fullmetal alchemist shirt. There are letters on the shirt and patches but luckily the stain is on the lower part of the shirt. The problem is the shirt has a picture of characters from the show on the back and so i dont want to just dye the whole thing. Please help me! I tried a marker but its a different shade of black and soon faded off! :( IS there any way to save my favorite shirt?

Here is a thought: stop using liquid bleach. Switch to the powdered bleach or color safe bleach, friends.
I'd use permanent dye on the ruined clothing. Or on the jean jacket, could you apply a decorative patch or embroider your name over that spot? Just a thought

Just fixed a pair of blue jeans I got on ebay that had bleach stain!!!
Sharpie has a line of Fall-ish colors I found at local hobby store. The color has no number or name on it and comes in a pack of probably 12 colors. (Rust, mustard, magenta...) then you see this almost perfect blue jean color...the lid is the color of the ink. Try it...It worked great for me. I touched the spot lightly then immediately rubbed it with my finger very hard. Good Luck.

For solid color items perhaps you could bleach the whole thing, then re-color. Think of it, as a new item in your wardrobe. I dont know if it will work, ive never tried it.

Hello Leah, I'd advise not using bleach anymore. Bleach is permanent. The only thing you can do is to dye the spots affected. Use an all fabric bleach like Clorox II, not the kind in the bottle. Susan from ThriftyFun

RE: Getting Bleach out of Colored Clothes
Hi Tara, A red shirt really doesn't need to be bleached. Only use bleach in loads that are white and you won't have that problem anymore. As far as the spot on a red shirt, see if you can find some red liquid dye and paint "only" the spot with it. It will be hard to get it to look right but if you are very careful it might not show too much.
Another solution, let your boyfriend do his own wash : ) Susan from ThriftyFun

Ok- I have a dilemma- I am SO careful with the bleach because I've already ruined 2 of my boyfriend's shirts. Well... it happend again today. BUT it isn't all over it. It is usually just a small spot on one part of the shirt!? DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THAT IS HAPPENING?!? I am SUPER careful with the bleach, after I use it I wipe it down with a white towel and everything. And the shirt I ruined is red... what's the best approach to try and fix it? AND can I redye the WHOLE shirt if it is a Lacoste, with an emblem on the front? HELP ME!! THANKS

Sorry, Bleach Permanently Removes Color
Hi Katie, Bleach permanently removes color. There is no way to undo it once it is done. Do rinse it out well so that it stops the bleaching and keeps the fabric from totally disinegrating.
The best you can do is try to get a sharpie pen about the same color and color it in. Or, buy some Rit liquid dye and paint the spot.
Be very careful with bleach. Make sure that if you are using it in the laundry use very little and to let the water fill into the washer before adding it or the clothes.
Take care, Susan from ThriftyFun

Bleach stains on colored clothing
Find a crayon to match the color needing to be redyed.Color over the spot .Use an old cotton rag and iron over the colored spot with the cloth between the hot iron and clothing. The heat will set the color in.Usually works pretty good---have to say it looks better than a white spot.
