Recipe: Aquarium Jello Cake

I made this aquarium cake with Jello. I made a regular rectangle cake and cut a center after the cake had chilled overnight. I poured the blue jello in and let it set for 2 hours. Then I decorated it using gummies and fruit rollups. It was easy and a lot of fun. Everyone loved it.

Decorate Your Pumpkin With a Mask

This year at the end of the season, buy up the Halloween masks when they are in the clearance piles. I purchased masks for pennies each and saved them until the next year. I place them on appropriately sized pumpkins and used them to decorate my front yard. I live across the street from an elementary school and they got lots of views!

Rowdy (Min Pin)

Rowdy is 5 months old. We think he is a Mini Pinchi. We got him in March of 2009, from a co-worker. He likes to run in the grass, fetch, walks and eat followed by long naps. We were tole he was a chihuahua, he is 5 months old and 14 lbs.

Boo The Cat

Boo is about 4 years young. Boo is the best breed there is, "Lovable friend." Boo was a stray from Philadelphia. Two years ago, she was found in a feral colony in a capture/neuter/release program. She was NOT feral, so they decided to adopt her to a good home. I found her on the petfinder.com web site. She has been a part of our family ever since.

Boo likes to follow me around the house and race, full speed ahead, across our hardwood floors - at night. Boo finds working at the computer exhausting. Paper work overwhelms her.

Store Guest Bedding in Tote

I store an air mattress, pillows, sheets and an extra blanket in a large tote in the bottom of my closet. It's always ready for unexpected guest. I still have room on the top of the tote to store other things.

Take Turns on Long Distance Bulk Shopping

We live in a small town with limited shopping. The nearest bulk shopping is 115 miles away. My friends and I take turns making the round trip and go in on purchases of paper towels and other disposables. I have only made the trip once this year saving gas, and wear and tear on my truck.

Contact Creditors to Adjust Late Charges

I was ill for some time and unable to keep up to date with my finances and the organization of my bills. I incurred several late charges over the period of one year. I would pay my bills, but they would be between 1-4 days late and I would receive a late charge.

I wrote to each creditor asking if they would adjust these late charges as a one time deal. There were some who just did the adjustment and others I had to contact via phone. When I combined all the late charges that were adjusted it came to a total of over $500.00.

This was such a great break for me. It was worth the effort of writing and detailing each charge and the exact amount of days the bills were late.

Trash Cans for Moving Food

When ever I move, I never want to take my old outside trash cans with me. So when I am moving, I buy two or three new trash cans with wheels. Then when I am packing up all of my grocery items, I place the food items such as can goods, box goods, canister items, spices, etc. in the trash cans. Should a glass jar break, it is contained within the can. Plus, with the wheels on the trash can, you may put a great deal weight in them and still move the cans easily.

Fortune Cookies for Wedding Favors

Fortune cookies are fun, inexpensive to buy and everyone has fun learning what their fortune holds in store for them. You can add them with your little gift bag at the end of the reception or as a conversation piece when paying homage to the bride, groom and others.

Search Products for Coupons

I stocked up on hair color and a toilet cleaning system and refills early this year when I had coupons, and they were on sale. Today when opening them, I found a total of $12 worth of coupons combined! If I had not looked, they would expire in December. So even if you aren't going to use the product right away, be sure to look inside, on the direction sheets, and printed on the inside of the box for coupons that you may otherwise miss out on the savings.

Reuse Mascara Brushes to Clean Hard to Reach Places

Don't throw away your mascara brushes, these dandy little brushes "go where no brush has gone before". I reach places in my sewing machine and surger that the others cannot. You will be amazed what they can find once you insert them give the brush a twist as you pull it back out. If you sterilize them first they work great at cleaning out icing tips and other food appliances.

Spray Pans With "No Stick" Spray in Dishwasher

When spraying your baking and frying pans with no stick spray, open your dishwasher door and place the item on it. Spray your cooking pans as desired and simply close the dishwasher door. No oily mess to clean off the counters and items on your counter in the general area and especially not on the floors making an extreme slipping hazard.

Close the door and easily clean it all up the next time you run your dishwasher through the cycles leaving a shiny clean inside door and no residue to clean while trying to prepare your food saving time, energy and money by not having to purchase as much cleaning supplies. Simple and easy, try it and guaranteed you will use this trick often, I know I do!

Dog With HGE is Always Tired

I am a little worried about my 8 yr. old chihuahua. He has been sick lately. He has HGE (Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis). He has had it for about a month now but is getting over it. He breaths heavily while he sleeps but he runs around fine during the day.

His sleeping patterns have changed. He use to sleep half the day now he sleeps whenever he can. Sometimes I pick him up and put him on his feet and he drops and goes back to sleep. Should I be worried? I am taking him to the vet but they cannot see him until next week. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Help Creating a Blog

I am interested in starting a blog to supplement my income. Can the great folks on this site who have had personal experience with doing this give me tips or point me to relevant sites/books related to the technical side of this.

I am looking for information about starting the site and getting advertisers. I have plenty of written material to stock the site. If I Google this topic there are a trillion responses that I don't have time to sort through. Any proven hints from people who have started a successful blog would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
