I have a two year old beautiful daughter and another child on the way. I love my job, but it breaks my heart when my little girl cries for me to stay home with her so we can be together all day. I really need some fun filled ideas as to what I can do to have the best of both worlds, but also still have that check coming in to help support my family. I appreciate any advice.

Deli lids and scraps of tissue paper can make beautiful "stained glass" window decorations for your kid's room.
Crafting Time: about 20 - 30 minutes
What You Need:
Transparent, plastic deli lids
Black construction paper
A pencil
Scissors
Glue stick
Scraps of colorful tissue paper
Glitter glue
Yarn
Cellophane tape
Directions:
1. Draw and cut a letter or other shape from black construction paper. The sample uses the first initial of the maker. Glue this shape to the back of a deli lid. This will be your silhouette.
2. Cut colorful tissue paper into small squares. Spread glue over the back of the lid, one section at a time, and lay squares of tissue paper into the glue. Overlap the tissue paper colors and continue until the back of the lid is entirely covered. The tissue paper will also cover the black silhouette.
3. Place a line of glitter glue into the depression around the edge of the lid.
4. Cut a length of yarn and knot the ends together to make a hanger. Tape the knot to the back of the lid, at the top.
5. Allow the glue to dry and hang your design in a sunny window.
Monty, aka Montague's Cactus Jack is a 3 year old Bulldog. We searched breeders throughout the U.S. and found him 3 years ago. We originally were going to get one of his litter mates, but Monty chose us.
Monty loves to wrestle with my husband and me and play with our Pekinese, Yoda. He also enjoys picking on Bobby, our elderly Toy Poodle.
Make a chair seat from old belts! I used as many leather belts as I got after my mom died a couple years ago and wove them onto where the seat was missing from this chair. I secured each end of the belt onto the wood with upholstery tacks.
We used to do this when I was a child and, to this day, I still do it for two reasons. When I open a can of food, after I empty it, I cut out the other end and put the lid inside then step on it to mash it flat. This saves space in the trash can and keeps you from cutting fingers on the loose lid in the trash when you smash the trash with your hand to make more room.
Did you already clean your paint brushes but notice you missed a spot? Don't dirty a paint brush for a small touch up. Just use a q-tip and toss it when you are finished.
This tip helps you get craft projects out of the way while you are not working on them. Put all the patterns and other supplies for a craft craft project in a plastic grocery bag with handles. Then slip each handle of the grocery bag over a clothes hanger and hang it a closet. You can cross the handles so the bag won't slip off the hanger. If the handles still have a tendency to slip, secure them with clothespins.
Last year, they had eggnog coffee at Starbucks, and we liked it so much we tried it at home! Just add store-bought eggnog to your own coffee. And maybe some extra cinnamon and nutmeg. Yum! (A good way to get the eggnog taste without oodles of calories, too!)
I tried to cut brownies before they had cooled, and ended up with a crumbled-up mess. Instead of throwing it away, I added a generous spoonful of crumbles to a bowl of vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate syrup, and called it "Brownie Sundaes". It was a huge hit!
A good hiding place for your valuables or money is to spray the inside of a mayonnaise jar white and store in the refrigerator or pantry with your valuables inside. No thief has ever stolen mayonnaise unless they were very hungry.
Just got a free pocket calendar for 2007 from a freebie site (looked around for giveaways - but had to send for one). Since it comes with advertising, I customized it by glueing on pictures from my art museum brochure on the cover, back and front. Then I covered the cover with a scrap of clear contact paper. Voila! a 2007 pocket calendar, almost gratis!

Does anyone know of a good way to neutralize the effects hard water has on hair? Our water here is very hard and my hair seems damaged from it, even the color gets a reddish tint to it only a week or two after I color it (usually medium ash blonde)
My parakeet seems to be gagging herself and vomiting. She positions herself under her perch, one foot on the bottom of the cage, one on the perch and she sticks one 'toe' down her throat until gooey half digested food strings out of her mouth. Has anyone else experienced this?
What is the best way to clean Levelor blinds? My small blinds get VERY dusty and the ones in the kitchen are dirty from cooking. I have 38 windows, so need an easy way to get these blinds sparkling clean. I can't go without blinds as I live in a subdivision and have neighbors who could see in.
I have had a problem for about a month with my fingernails on my right hand only. I am right handed. They started splitting and peeling. As soon as they started splitting I trimmed them straight across as if not I would find myself snagging material, etc. and then they would split even more. It is to the point now that my nails are trimmed down to the quick and they hurt. I spoke with an esthetician and she suggested that I purchase a nail covering product that does not contain formaldehyde and see if that helps. It did not.
I have not used any new detergent, shampoo, soap or any other product. It just seems so weird that this has only occurred on one hand and not the other. I wear rubber gloves when doing dishes to protect them from the hot water and the detergent. Can anyone suggest a treatment to help me and also has anyone else run into this predicament?

Every time I wash any red clothes, they come out of the dryer with a blue tie dye all over them. I keep all reds together in a separate load and use Tide. Some of the clothing is very expensive and this is quite frustrating. We have well water. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. If anyone has any tips on keeping reds red I would appreciate it!!
I have a few cans of shrimp bisque. Other than using them as the directions suggest would anyone out there have any other recipe suggestions? Thank you.
My daughter has been saving plastic baby food containers for me. I volunteer at a crisis nursery and I would like to have a craft project for preschool children with which I can use these containers. Anyone out there with ideas?
I have a minpin/chihuahua 4 1/2 months. I would like to know what are different things that I can feed her. I was told to keep a dog on dry food for life but then I came across something on the internet about commercial dog foods can kill your dog 8.3 years before time. Of course, this person was selling a cook book of recipes that he has for dogs but I'm still wondering is there any truth to that.
I break up soft snacks and mix it with the dry dog food but it seems like she eats all of the snack and a little dry food. i try to feed her three times a day but she doesn't even finish the morning dish. She would go back and nibble on the dry food every now and then but if i go to the cooler where I keep all her snacks she is flipping all over the place.
I thought about the can food but i don't know if that would cause wet stools all over the place. Any suggestions on what to feed her that will NOT make her over weight. i want her to eat nutritiously, not to be overweight. I just don't know what kind of people food to give her since i have been told to keep her on dry dog food for life.
How do you remove excess air from an air mattress that you're trying to fold and put back in the box? We have a queen-size Aerobed that lifts high off the floor, so it must have several chambers. We've tried suctioning the air out with a vacuum cleaner hose to no avail. Any suggestions?

In 1932, a seed producer named W. Ray Hastings proposed the idea of All-American Selections as a way for home gardeners to learn which new varieties of vegetables and flowers are truly improved each year. Only the seed of new, previously unsold varieties of flowers and vegetables would be grown throughout North America, with the results then assessed by skilled, impartial judges. All-American Selections has conducted trials and selected winners every year since it was founded in 1932. Instead of advertising the winners, it relies on consumer magazines, newspapers, garden clubs and extension agents to introduce AAS Winners to the gardening public. Here are the winners for 2007.
