There's another toy recall related to lead paint, be sure to read about it in the More Reading section. It's a recall of wooden coloring from Toys "R" Us.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Thanks for reading,

Susan

In Memory of Roc

Our family just lost the best dog in the world. His name is Roc. He would not harm a fly. He was our big baby. It kills me when people try to give these dogs a bad name. He was two and half years old and passed away 8-9-2007. We miss him dearly.

RIP ROC

Glass Holiday Orbs

These beautiful ornaments would make a lovely addition to any holiday tree. You can make them to keep or give away. You have to make them in stages, over the course of a few days only because the paint is on the inside and needs time to dry completely. The actual time spent crafting and expense are minimal considering the results you will achieve with very little effort. Have fun!

Garden Arbor

This is a garden arbor my boyfriend built for his mom for Mother's Day. She was thrilled when it was finished. It took him 3 days. He built it from a picture that was in our local newspaper. It turned out beautiful.

Moisturizer Keeps Your Face Soft While Blow Drying

Apply facial moisturizer before blow drying your hair so the heat from the blow dryer doesn't dry out your skin.

Cardboard Puzzle Piece Missing?

I acquired a puzzle that had one piece missing. I scanned the picture on the puzzle box and enlarged the area of the missing piece, printed it out and glued it to cardboard (thickness of puzzle), cut to shape of missing piece.

Great whether you are saving the picture or passing it along to someone else!

Cornmeal For Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home" and can't digest it, so it kills them. It may take a week or so (especially if it rains) but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Get Polycarbonate Lenses For Eyeglasses

When purchasing eyeglasses, do yourself a favor and buy a polycarbonate lens. This type of lens comes with ultraviolet protection built in the material. It also has a scratch protection as well. This move can save you anywhere from $30 to $50 dollars

Vinegar Or Pepper For Rabbit Repellent

Tips for keeping rabbits out of your garden. Soak a cotton ball in white distilled vinegar and place it in a 35 mm film container. Poke a hole in the top and place in your garden. Rabbits hate the smell. You will have to keep refreshing the cotton ball and if you have a large garden you might want to spread a few of these around.

Sprinkling black pepper around your lettuce will also work. Rabbits hate the smell of it. If it rains or you water, refresh the pepper.

Buy Refills Of Baby Wipes To Save

To save money on hand wipes, buy the refill package of baby wipes. They are more moist and much thicker and you can get about eighty wipes for a little over a dollar. I do this on a regular basis and save a lot of money. Just put the wipes in a zip lock bag to carry with you!

Add Extra Principal To Your Mortgage Payments

Reduce the amount of interest you pay on your mortgage payments by simply adding additional principle dollars to the payments you make each month. You don't have to do this every month; you could do it once or twice a year if you receive bonuses or a tax refund. No tricks, no complicated formula. All you need to do is check your mortgage document to see if there is a pre-payment penalty clause (usually paragraph 17), and if not, you are allowed to make additional payments in any amounts at any time over the term of the mortgage.

Pay Bills Online To Save

Pay as many bills online as you can. This saves paper waste, cost of stamps and the cost of checks. Most companies now ask if you want to be paperless and they send you an email of your bill. This also saves them cost of stamp and waste of paper. Even if you do a couple like this, it will have you money.

Scrapbook for Student Assignment

I've heard about the scrapbooking craze but have not been involved. My 13 year old son has been given a school assignment to create a scrapbook about himself. His instructions were to take each letter of the alphabet and give 2 words beginning with that letter to describe himself. He said the teacher suggested they use buttons "and stuff" to put on it. The project is due in about a week, so I assume it's not expected to be too grand. We've already come up with his words, and I thought about writing them in calligraphy form on the pages. Any quick or easy suggestions out there for what to use for the book/pages, decorating, etc.? Any ideas are welcomed!

Severe Itching Caused by Okra Plants

Every year I have my vegetable garden and I always plant Okra, which I love. When I get around the plant and start picking, I start itching like I have gotten into poison ivy. I use long rubber gloves for my hands and part of my arms, but my neck, face and the rest of my body itches so bad that I can't wait to take a shower and lotion down. Can anyone help me with this problem?
