Heart-Shaped Scones

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter
  • 1/4 cup. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk or plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add sugar and melted butter. Beat till creamy, let mixture cool. Add eggs and milk or yogurt, and mix till blended.

Scoop dough on wax paper, flatten slightly by hand to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut with heart-shaped cookie cutters. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 20 minutes.

hello laura,i thought you might like to try my recipe for english scones. i bake these all the time and i,ve won a competition with them, regards jan uk

6 ounces plain flour(all purpose)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 ounces butter
11/2 tablespoons sugar
small amount sultanas
buttermilk to mix

rub together flour,baking powder and butter to fine crumbs
add rest of ingredients and mix
don,t make to wet
pat out about 2 1/2cm thick and cut to desired shape
bake in a fairly hot oven for about 12 mins or until well risen and golden.
these don,t last long in my house but if you want to keep them longer add 1 beaten egg to the dry mixture.will keep in an airtight container 2 or 3 days.
