A tiny spare tire isn't the only way in which car manufacturers are sneaking weight and raw material from new models. Puny batteries are another concession to mileage improvement and cost cutting. If you're concerned about cold weather starting, ask your dealer about replacing the standard battery with a heavy-duty one.
