Hi. My 4 month old puppy looks just like all of these doggies! I am really wondering what she is mixed with. The vet says shepherd mix for now and that he will know more when she is older. She is now 20 pounds and super super smart and very well-behaved. Any ideas?

This is Ribsey. We were told by the adoption place that she was German Shepard/Great Dane Mix. She has black marble markings all over her fur, and it doesn't seem to matter how much we feed her, because she stays slender. I don't know what she is, but she's beautiful. This is her at 6 months.

Here is our adopted "mutt" from animal control. He was only about 2 months when we got him, but found later through DNA testing (the one that tests using blood, not saliva) that he was all Belgian Malinois.

Holy moly! The picture below is a picture of burrito at 3 months. Now his ears are erect (most of the time), and i should of sworn, Jeffrey with the 7 months great dane/shepherd mix, stole a picture from my hard drive and posted as his dog!
He is a german sheperd mix (mom), and american staff terrior (dad) mix. or at least that's what I've been told.
He is 55 lbs. at 6 months now, but doesn't really have that stocky pit bull body but not long legged either.

We have a puppy too that looks like them. They said she's a great dane/German Shepherd mix. She stands 26" tall with 8 month but only weights about 60lbs. She has the face of a Shepperd though!the pic is from when we first got her with 3 month.

We have two shepards one the one in the back of the picture "Chac" and it 2 1/2 years old and "Whisky" he is 6months old the one in front. We know for a fact that "Chac" is a Malinois Belgium Shepard. We live in Cancun, Mexico and they are used here exclusively for police and military and some privately owened. We bought "Whisky" thinking that we were getting another Malinois Belguim Shepard and was promised by the Pet Strore we bought him in. However, there are definate differences in the two and upon research we now think that he is a Great Dane/Malinois Mix. We are stumped too. His feet are huge and he is really big for just 6 months to be a Malinois. Feed Back?

This was a picture of my puppy when she was a baby. She is a Belgian malinois American Staffordshire terrier mix. Strikingly similar to your dog. She looks a little different now.

It's a little hard to tell from the pic. To do good breed identification you need to look at the entire dog and how they stand.
It looks like there's a little Shep in there but at LEAST 1/2 pit also. See how squared off the snout is? The fur is short, golden colored and it looks like the hind quarter is the powerful one of a pit terrier. The ears are shorter and less pointy than you'd have on a Shep or Malinoois...even if they were the dominant breed in a mixture.
That's not a bad thing! It isn't the dog, it's the owners that create bad pets. On any paperwork you do for the dog; I'd only put down that he's a Shepx. It's less hassle for you and alleviates the "pit" stigma and laws in certain areas. If people persist in knowing what the other parts of the mix are my friends will just say "probably 57 other things" or something like that.
My pure Am Staff is almost 17 years old and one of the best dogs I've ever had. Labs have great pr but they aren't always the best dogs. They're major chow hounds and tend to have problems with real hyperactivity and nervousness even if they are well exercised.
Belgian Malinois are a close cousin to the German Sheps usually seen in America. But, your dog's head looks nothing like a Malinois except for a little bit of black fur on the snout. The body doesn't either.
You've got an adorable puppy but he's mostly a generic pit terrier (American Staffordshire Terrier x), a little shep and probably at least one other breed thrown in for good measure. This gives you a HUGE plus when it comes to health care and radically decreases the likelihood of breed specific health problems and congenital defects.
Enjoy him and make sure he gets plenty of exercise consistent, loving discipline and proper socialization!
