The pad and carpet are very old and was molded many times and the glue is thick and really dark brown color, is that normal? I've been using razor knifes of all sorts theres just a bunch! lyn

I've used paint thinner and it works well. The smell can be quite a killer though. Make sure there is good ventilation. If you don't have windows, have a strong fan to blow the smell away.
Do note that paint thinner can affect your tile, so try a bit first.

How about trying a razor blade, the Red Devil type. I use one of those to get burned on spots on pans and just about everything.

Try one of the following:
1. Acetone
2.Nail Polish remover
3.Eucalypytus Oil
4. (1) part ammonia and (4) parts cool water.
5. Paint Thinner

I would try the nail polish remover first, because it's cheaper and can be found all over the world.
