Killian (Sheltie)

Killian is a 2 year old Sheltie (Shetland Sheep Dog.) I got him from a friend who breeds Shelties when he was 4 months old.

He loves to go for walks, play with all his stuffed animals and toys, play with other dogs, and loves kids.

Ink Stain Remover Product

The http://www.shophometrends.com catalog had an ad for a permanent marker and ink stain remover. As so many people have written about this situation, I though it was worth mentioning. I have not tried this item, but it might help someone. It is called Amodex, item #512003 for $10.95. You might call a local Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens Plus store to see if they have it in stock. Or maybe an artist's supply store.

College Students And Debt

I deal with debt elimination in my line of business and I am amazed at the student loan debt that people are accumulating. Don't fall into this trap. I tried to help a young lady and it was too late. She had a Master's Degree and that couldn't even help her! She had a $125,000 student loan that she said was in deferment for three years and she didn't need to start paying back right now. I figured it out and if she started paying just $300 per month on that, starting right now, she would never have it paid off in her lifetime. If she started paying it right now at $600 per month, it would take her 37 years.

We need to educate these young adults. We need something because older adults that should be responsible are lending all this money out knowing that a lot of these kids cannot pay that kind of money. They are ruining their credit. Think about all the credit card offers these kids get. I have three sons and each one gets at least 1-3 credit card offers a day. That is truly ridiculous. I just had it stopped. You can opt out of all these offers. Do you realize it is harming your credit too? Every time they check your credit to offer these, it bring your score down a little bit.

Please, please, if you can get some kind of scholarship or go to a community college or technical college for two years to get some of your core classes out of the way, it is much better. Then if you want, you can transfer to one of the bigger colleges. It is not worth it to spend that kind of money. Most kids think they will step out of the college door when they graduate and be making what Mom and Dad are making. I know a lot of kids that are working in restaurants until something opens up for them. We have got to educate them. If you are in GA, take advantage of the Hope Scholarship and Hope Grant, fill out that FAFSA! Fill out every scholarship application you can get your hands on. It does pay off.

Use A Sponge For Picking Up Thumbtacks

I once spilled a package of the cheap button-like thumb tacks in a drawer. I had a hard time picking them up one by one. So I took an old dried out sponge, so it was kind of hard, and I pushed it onto the tacks. It worked so well, I left them in the sponge for storage.

Athlete's Foot Remedies

For those of us who suffer from itchy feet, I recommend using Lysol spray in your shoes once a week. This kills the fungus that creates itchy feet. I also recommend starting the day with clean dry stockings and pre-soaking your week's worth of stockings in a disinfectant bath before washing.

Low Fat Ice Cream Sandwich Substitute

For a low fat easy snack, I take 2 full graham crackers, put Cool Whip about 1/2 inch thick on one of the crackers and put the other cracker on top. Push together a little bit, wrap in Saran Wrap and freeze. When you get hungry for an ice cream sandwich, you can have a homemade low-fat ice cream sandwich. Use chocolate graham crackers and the kids won't know the difference. Enjoy.

Prescription Bottle Valentine Gift

Here's an idea for a cute inexpensive Valentine treat for family and friends. I wash out empty prescription bottles and remove the labels. Then I fill them with Hershey's Hugs and chocolate Kisses. I make a label from paper that reads "Rx for a Happy Valentine's Day, lots of hugs and kisses!" and tape it onto the bottle. A unique little gift and a way to recycle those prescription bottles!

Tomato Stains On Clothing

I have what appears to be a tomato based stain on a brand new white dress that I've only worn once! I've tried everything to remove it with no effect - it hasn't even faded. I've tried vanish oxi, plus a dual liquid thing that they do. i've even tried neat domestos! Nothing has touched it. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

Grow Your Own Mushrooms
By Ellen Brown

Studies have shown that when Shiitake, Oyster and Enoki mushrooms are eaten as part of our regular diets, they can lower cholesterol, moderate blood sugar levels, reduce stress and enhance our immune systems. Additional clinical evidence suggests mushrooms can also play an important therapeutic role in fighting cancer and other major diseases. If you've ever perused the gourmet mushroom section at the grocery store, you know that these health benefits often come at a steep price, especially if organically grown. Fortunately, it's much cheaper (and just as easy) to grow your own.

Do-It Yourself Liquid Fertilizers & Teas
By Ellen Brown

One of the fundamental principles of organic gardening is to "feed the soil, not the plant." The idea behind this concept is that if you start with healthy soil in the first place, you won't need a lot of additional fertilizers. That's good advice, but sometimes even Mother Nature appreciates a little boost. Organic liquid fertilizers and teas are a good options, because they can provide plants with nutrients in a readily available form. Here's all you need to know to make your own.
