Today's Tips
Getting All the Spaghetti Sauce
When using store bought jar spaghetti sauce, after pouring all the sauce into the pan, put about a tablespoon of water in the jar, screw the lid back on and shake. Then pour the rest of the sauce out! This way you use ALL the sauce and none is wasted by sticking to the sides of the jar! By M Day

Prepare for Company the Night Before
My tip is something my Mom did when she had company staying over. Before she went to bed each evening, she would set the table and prepare everything possible. Then the cereals and jams were set on the table. Ground coffee and water can also be put in the coffee maker so that it only needs to be turned on. It makes morning so much easier. By Bev Sobkowich

Uses for old sheets?
The only thing I feel I can add to all those amazing tips is this (Click the link below to read them).
When I was little and we had very little money my mum used to 'inside-out' the sheets. When they got worn in the middle she would cut them straight up the centre and hem the new edges carefully, then sew the old outside edges together. Done well you hardly notice as the seam in the middle. It can look like it's been folded in the cupboard. It pretty much doubles the life of your sheets and it's not uncomfortable, I never noticed the difference.

Wood Cabinet Polish
This solution will clean and polish. If your cabinets are pretty dirty, you will probably want to use the Wood Cabinet Cleaner first.
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup white vinegar
- 1/3 cup safflower oil
- blender
- soft cloth
Directions:
First put the vinegar in your blender and start the blender. While the blender is running, slowly add the safflower oil. Let the blender run until the mixture is emulsified.

Store Extra Measuring Cups with Ingredients
Because I bake things often, I have purchased several sets of extra measuring cups and spoons I have found on sale days, I put the usual measure into the container for items like flours, sugars, leavening agents, oatmeal, etc., and leave them there. Saves time and washing, and extra mess because I can keep the bowls over the container while measuring. By Joy Ruehl

Featured Feedback: RE: How to Preserve Cattails
Hi JoAnn from S.D., Years ago I preserved cattails with aerosol hairspray (Do not use a pump hairspray). I sprayed each cattail including stem with hairspray outside. I let them dry completely before bringing the cattails into my home. If I saw one cattail beginning to burst open, I would spray it again and they kept just fine for years and years. I hope this helps.

Featured Feedback: RE: Use for a Cracked Wading Pool
Another similar idea to yours is to bury the pool into the ground and fill with garden soil. This would make a self contained bed for plants and flowers. The cracks and holes you add to the bottom allow for drainage.

Featured Feedback: RE: Homemade Air Freshener
The best homemade, environmentally safe "air freshener" I have found is cinnamon. If you sprinkle the bottom of a pan with some cinnamon and let it warm on the stove (medium heat), it fills your house with the scent of baking. It's not overpowering, yet you can't smell much of anything else. You don't have to warm it too long for it to last, so there isn't much over-heating of your home or a high electric bill.

Featured Feedback: RE: Saving Money When Buying Food
Check your coupons to see if you can purchase the smallest size of an item. It may be that you save more per ounce, or package than if you bought the same item in a larger size. Also, check to match coupons with sales on the items you are looking to purchase.
Also, know the prices you generally pay. A certain brand of waffles are generally $.99 per package at my market. When they are "on sale" and featured, they mysteriously go up to $1.29 per package.
Recently there were coupons out there for those waffles for $.50 off per package. My store doubles coupons up to $.50, so the waffles were free.
Deodorant is another product that benefits from coupons and waiting to coordinate prices with sales. Just the other day I cut coupons for a particular brand of deodorant. This same week, the store advertised the deodorant on sale for 1/2 price, a penny less than the coupon amount. Hence - free deodorant.
Obviously, these are just the great examples. But you can save 50% or more on your bill by combining the sales with the coupons and stocking up on those weeks when the items are really cheap.

Featured Feedback: Can't Afford Your Prescription Drugs? Call The Manufacturer
You can find a free list of companies and their patient assistance programs by going to Google and typing in Drug Assistance Programs. You will find a list of the companies, and usually a list of the prescription drugs they have available, and the income levels and other details that make one eligible for assistance. Or look on your prescription bottle and see which company makes your medicine and type the name of the company in google --- for example -- Pfizer patient assistance. If you take lipitor, it is available without cost from Pfizer. They have guidelines for eligibility.

Sewing Shortcuts are Boon to Seamstresses Short on Time
By Sarah J. Doyle
When a deadline is near, shortcuts can mean the difference between it being wise or foolish for an expert or novice to undertake a sewing project. For those home sewers who dislike detail, or those whose temperaments demand that a project must go quickly, shortcuts can mean the difference between continued interest or giving up sewing completely.
