What is a Coupon Swap?

So how does coupon swap work? Is it something you have to use the US Mail to do? It sounds interesting but I am trying to see the big picture here. Thanks.

I have seen it done several ways. You could start a coupon box at a location you frequent like; work, gym, childcare location, etc. You would donate unused coupons and then take what you like or need and so does everyone else who participates. Should be one-for-one. Another way you could do it would be to get a group of people together and post who has what available either through a message board or email chain and snail mail each other coupons once you see someone who has what you need/want.

You could also do a weekly meeting with some friends and everyone exchanges coupons, one for one. Basically you get the opportunity to find coupons you need and get to help someone else out as well!
