I have TONS of pictures in photo albums but I recently met up with a new challenge--SCRAPBOOKING! While shopping this weekend I found a scrapbook at a tent sale for $2.00! It has 100 or more pages, is Leather but has one drawback, it says Disneyland on the front. Oh well, who'll notice?
The price is motivation enough to get me started. The supplies I used were scrapbooking paper and decorative gift wrapping paper, craft foam, paper glue sticks, tape, scissors and scissors which cut a decorative edge, all my old cards and photos.
With a lot of cutting and pasting I have come up with my first HOLIDAY page. I'm really excited about getting started and wanted to pass this along so that others might be inspired to do the same. This brings back that old childhood desire to cut and paste. Only now at my age my family will think I've reverted back to my childhood. At least I'll have something to do when they put me in the NURSING HOME!
Hello Sharon, my name is Vivian and I own a scrapbooking store in South Florida (Let's Scrap). I think the idea of making a scrapbook is fantastic. I guarantee it will be the center of attention at family gatherings and guests. It is a very rewarding hobby. You will see how many smiles you will get and how many conversations it will spark. We love looking back and remembering. Thanks to people like you that truly get it together and start a project such as this. Best of luck to you and Happy Scrappin'
For all the money that is spent on supplies, for all the time spent shopping, for all the time spent copying or using a paid artist's work, NO ONE will have a more beautiful, original or interesting work of art than you.
The interesting part is that each piece has a story. Isn't that neat? You hand down the stories to your family and they will be telling them--this oral history--for generations. Another interesting thing is that if you write down those stories, neither you nor the life of your times will be lost.

p.s. You may cover the cover of the book, and then tell THAT story. Someday, someone will uncover the "Disney," and feel sheepish that the story is true. It will make all the other stories true, too.
Look for scrapbooking supplies wherever you go. For example, you can buy 100 brass brads for less than a dollar at the local discount store and then customize them to match your layout with acrylic paint and/or sandpaper. Or look in the clearance bin for ribbon, fiber, fabric remnants, or bouquets of silk flowers that you can take apart and attach to your cards and layouts with brads, eyelets, bottle caps, or buttons.
You'll find all kinds of treasures at office supply, hardware, and dollar stores, as well as flea markets and garage sales.

That is very pretty. Very, very nice. For a different type of background, I have six wall paper sample books. They have been a great help to me - and, since they were free, a cheap background for some of my work. Keep up the great work!
Hi, what a pretty page, you have done a great job. Have you thought about recovering the front of your scrapbook, I have done them with material and they turn out great. You could even do a photo page and glue it in the cover. Happy scrapping.....
