I recently had Mannington Laminate Floors put in. I went and bought the Orange Glo Laminate Floor Cleaning System (which one of the sales people at the store said they use). It worked great the first time. You must clean and then put the revitalizer on. The revitalizer makes everything shiny and protects from scratches. It is very expensive which is why I switched to Vinegar and water/ammonia, and even tried windex along with the Pergo cleaner. I cannot afford the revitalizer once per week like it says nor do I have the time.

My floor now has this horrible residue that I cannot get off no matter what I try. I called the company (Orange Glo) and they told me to strip the floor. No way will I do that. Any suggestions on how to get the remnants of this Orange Glo off the floor and restore to my natural finish? I have the mop with the removable terry cloth head for laminate floors and I have also tried to scrub on my hands and knees. HELP! I want my floor back.

Awesome saved my liminated flooring. I used that Orange Glo on my flooring before I knew the damage it would do. Then I read the remarks of how this Awesome works and went to the Dollar Store and bought four bottles to do my floors. It was a painsaking chore on my hand and knees and with my husbands help we finally did it and the floors look so good again and no more cloudy sticky stuff Like new. Thank you Awesome cleaner you saved my floors, I will never use Orange Glo again only

I also had the same issue. We bought a Shark steam cleaner thinking it would remove the residue. Then my mom talked to a man who sells laminate and he said to use windex. We sprayed the windex, waited a few mintues, and then used the Shark's steam power to remove the residue. It is going to take us many hours and many bottles of windex, but our floors will soon be repaired.

I had the same issue. I used a lot of orange glo and mop and glo on my floors, and I thought my floors were totally ruined after I saw that waxy film on them.

I tried the Magic Eraser like others here with limited success. I was really stumped. There are some very good tips in this thread!

I read all the comments over at a site called http://www.savemyfloors.com which talks about how one guy managed to salvage his laminate floors after a similar disaster. It was very helpful.

Good luck folks. Hope you are able to get the orange glo off - that product should be banned!

The Awesome Cleaner is freakin awesome! OMG! I used the orange glo crap and killed my brand new hardwood floors! I have tried every thing and then the angels and chorus sang when awesome came into my life and brought my beautiful mahogany hardwood floors back! Thank god! Orange glo should be taken off the market and never ever sold again! Don't buy that junk! Bruce's hardwood floor cleaner is all I am ever going to use again! Awesome cleaner from the dollar store of all places I sprayed it straight from the bottle on my floors in small sections and then used the kitchen scrubby and it brought it right off! Ya ya! I am dancing on my floors! Thank you everyone for the "awesome" advice! lol

I had the same problem so I went to lowes and home depot to get two difference opinions and both of them told me to use Bruce Hardwood & Laminate Floor Cleaner, 32 oz. spray. I used the bruce for the first time yestreday and OMG what a difference. Even though the marks are still there but they faded allot just by one application. I can already see the difference which is what I was told it will take time to remove the wax build up from the orange glow. I Bruce Hardwood & Laminate Floor Cleaner, 32 oz. spray both Lowes and home depot they have it price 4.97 a bottle. Its not with the other cleaning products its in with the laminate floors on the end of the one of the aisle just ask for bruce cleaning.

But if you want something that will work instant like i do. I called in a professional and we are using Bona stone, tile, and laminate floor cleaner (http://www.1877floorguy.com/bonharfloorc1.html) along with a scrub Wright pad and good old fashion elbow grease. Those combinations are removing the wax build up. Spray the Bona onto the floor then scrub in circle motions with the scrub wright pad then with a papertowl wip clean. Once I've done the whole floor a day later the professional says to clean the floors with vinegar and water solution then another day later repeat the Bona process if nessacary. once it's all done use either the Bruce floor cleaner ( http://www.bruce.com/resflram/na/br ... e/en/us/fc_detail.asp?productId=22.0)or Quick-step quick clean (http://www.installerstore.com/product.php?productid=1724&cat=0&page=1).

So glad I found this thread. My laminate floors have been looking awful and I didn't connect it to the Orange Glo until I read everyone elses experience. Went straight to Dollar Tree and bought a bottle of Awesome concentrate. Now my question is. What the ratio of concentrate to water? BTW, I tried equal parts of rubbing alcohol, white vinegar and water that someone suggested. That worked great.

I also just last week used orange glo for the first time. The first time was beautiful. The 2nd time was a disaster. milky white film. I have just now initially tried windex on my hands and knees. It has gotten the milky film off, but it still isn't perfect. I'm going to the dollar store to get some 'awsome cleaner' and I will let you know how that does. Please, please, anyone thinking of using this, think again. DO NOT ruin your floors with orange glo.

Yikes, I almost bought the Orange Glo because I cannot find Brite (the yellow bottle) in any store.
Thank goodness I found this site before I yucked up my new floor!
I have a new laminate floor and Mop and Glo just does not put as nice of a finish as Brite, that I used to use a few years ago. Anyone have a clue where I can buy Brite or who the manufacturer is?

I didn't know why my floors had developed a horrible filmy haze on them until I decided to turn to the internet for a solution and found this website and read everybody's story. I have been using OrangeGlo for the past couple of years on my Wilsonart laminate floors and lately the more I cleaned the worse my floors looked. I was accusing my kids of spilling drinks and not doing a good job of cleaning up.

After reading some of the solutions, I tried the Magic Eraser since I had a couple handy, and found that if I used a vinegar and water solution with it, and then rinsed with a clean sponge, followed by clean, dry paper towels, it worked. The problem is that I have to do four bedrooms and a living room and dining room. I did two bedrooms first on my hands and knees. It took me all week-end and now I feel like I need a chiropractor! I then found a Magic Eraser sponge mop. But for some reason, that didn't work as well as the hand sponge, probably because I think it works better in a circular motion. I also got some of the "Awesome" product and sampled a few spots. That seems to work well also. I still have a long way to go to finish, but I want to thank you all for your suggestions. It was good to hear I wasn't the only one. They should take this product off the market or at least put a warning on the bottle.

The Awesome Orange cleaner from Dollar Tree really works! I just sprayed some on, then rubbed it around with the scratchy side of my kitchen sponge, rinsed the sponge and scrubbed again, then wiped it away with a towel. I works, but takes a long time!

I have had Mannington Laminate Floors for 7 years, I have used Orange Glo for years and after I was done it looked so nice and I was happy but recently I went to mop it again and could not figure out why it looked SO NASTY so I started with a paint scrapper and got no where then I called the company they told me to order this cleaner that was $14.00 a bottle and that I would need several for the size of my floor and I don't have that kind of money to clean my floor with then took advise from this web site and I am not big on Dollar Tree cleaning products but the cleaner I used was called "AWESOME" and It really was AWESOME,it took me three sleepless nights approx. 18 hours but I got the NASTY off my floor and now I use vinegar and water and my floor is BEAUTIFUL again, and I want to say Thank you so very much for being here for me! I love Awesome and hate Orange Glo!

I am just sitting down after being on my hands and knees scrubbing my floor for the past 6 hours. AH! Orange glo is so terrible. Again, as others have said I don't know how this is even being sold. I have laminent flooring and orange glo made them dull and milky looking. I called the local flooring store and they told me to use acetone nail polish remover. At first it looked like it was getting worse, but after a couple of times rubbing it in, the shine started to come back. Before I tried the acetone I tried the vinegar, water, and windex. This did an ok job, but I was still not happy. The acetone seemed to do the trick for the most part, but I still need to do some scrubbing.

Luckily, I had applied only one coat of Orange Glo to my WilsonArt laminate floor before I realized I'd made a mistake. I should have know when I realized it smelled just like the old Aero wax my mom used but didn't until my dog missed his training pad and wet the floor. Usually, a little Windex cleaned up his accidents nicely but in this case the urine reacted with the Orange Glo on the floor and left a very large mark from the etching of the Orange Glo. No cleaner nor no amount of additional Orange Glo covered the mark. If it can't handle a little dog urine what can it handle? I spent two days on my hands and knees with a mixture of ammonia and hot water (1/3 cup per gallon) getting it off. ORANGE GLO IS NOT FOR QUALITY LAMINATE FLOORS. If I can prevent one person from putting it on their laminate then the length of this message is worth it.

Do not use ammonia on your wood floors. I did what the other 2 posts had said and it just about ruined my floors, it started to peel the finish off.

I had this residue on my hardwood floors. It was absolutely horrible. I tried different cleaners to get it off and nothing worked. I called Orange Glo and they told me to use this mix to remove the "wax" from the floor. It works, just a little more work than they make it out to be. In a bucket mix 1/2 cup of Ammonia to one gallon of hot water. Put it on the floor with a mop and let the mix sit for 5 minutes, then with a clean white dry cloth wipe the area off. Then repeat it again. I actually had to repeat this a few times before the haze started to disappear. I hope this helps anyone looking for a fix.

Do NOT use this Orange Glo product nor buy any of the ebooks folks are trying to sell you on how to remove the build up/haze. I called Orange Glo's customer service line directly and found out how to remove this product off the floor. Their solution? Plain old ammonia and good old fashioned hands and knees elbow Yup, an entire weekend on my hands and knees, to get the floors back to their original luster because there was so much build up on them.

We've been using this product and at first it really looked nice but then the floors started looking dull and very scratched up. I didn't understand why and then noted streaks where some parts of the floor were shiny and others were dull so I scraped with my fingernail and removed some product. Underneath it was shiny. So I decided to Google and found that lots of people were having the same problem!

Directions from Orange Glo's customer service line:

1. Mix 1/2 cup of ammonia with 1 gallon of warm water.
2. Apply solution to floor with mop in inconspicuous place first to test.
3. Once you determine it's okay to use on your floors...apply to floor and let stand for 5 minutes.
4. Wipe up the solution with a clean soft cloth.
5. Wipe with circular motion if there is more of a build up.
6. According to how much build up you have...you might have to repeat the process until it's all off.

I'm very disappointed this product is still being sold in stores as no one should ever use this on their floors!

Orange Glo is horrible! I had some of the same problems listed on this site. I put this crap on my great hardwood floors and it resulted in the greasy residue! I'm glad I found this site within hours of putting the stuff on my floors. I was able to use a combination of vinegar, soap, and water to get it up without further damage. Otherwise I wouldn't have known what to do. How disappointing!

LA's Totally Awesome cleaner manfactured by Awesome Products, Inc. and available from Dollar Stores will remove Orange Glo. Yellow liquid in 20 oz. spray bottle. Spray on and let the cleaner dissolve the acrylic wax for a few minutes then rub off. Use 00 steel wool to speed the process and wipe clean.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I went out and bought AWESOME and it took the gunk that Orange Glo left right off no effort needed for scrubbing. But now I'm left with foot print marks. What's the best solution or product for this?

I had been using Orange Glo for some time and then starting noticing more scratches and dulling on my laminate. It was due to the buidup of Orange Glo. I removed it with straight Ammonia or you can add a little water - poured it on the floor in small sections let it set for about a minute and wiped the build up off easily. I used a teflon sponge with a handle (if you can find a larger one the job will move much faster) which will not scratch the floor to wipe it up and in some instances apply a little pressure to get any residue up. Then I wiped the section with a damp cloth. It came out nice and clean and scratches are gone. It was all build up. Good luck!

AWESOME will do the trick. You can buy awesome at the Dollar Tree or local Dollar store. You spray it on, let it set for a couple of minutes, and then you should be able to gently scrape (with a rubber squeegee) off the funky, gooky, nasty mess called orange glo that was left behind. Another poster recommended this and I am thankful to him. I bought 10 bottles and it seems to be doing the trick. Thanks so much. I will go to a vinegar mix from now on.

Woops! I did it to my cherry floors in the formal dining room. Yuck! Windex with vinegar, regular floor cleaner and dish soap did not work. Then went to my Mom's all time cleaner. Murphy's Oil Soap and warm water worked! Rubbed it on with a rag, wiped it dry, back to normal!

Your cleaning method left minerals deposits on the floor and removed the finish that the Orange cleaner had left behind Tyr looking up on QVC for one of their wood floor cleaners for reviving floors, it is called HOPES PREMIUM HOME CARE FLOOR REVIVE. It works very well and keeps the shine

I too have had this problem and have been on an endless search. Mineral Spirits and some of these other products sound kind of harsh but I'm willing to try just about anything.

I'm going to try the Armstrong Floor stripper and cleaner on my floors this weekend. (9.00 dollar locally)
I'll let you know how it turns out.

Never use Orange Glo floor cleaner on laminate floors. I did and could not figure out why my floors were shiny but had gotten darker. It was from the build up of the Orange Glo floor cleaner. I had to use Pledge Multi Surface Floor Cleaner to remove the Orange Glo. Just spray the Pledge product on the floor, let it set for 3-5 minutes and scrub it off with a brush. Takes a while, but you will get your laminate floor back. Now I am using only vinegar and water to clean my laminate floors.

I used Orange Glo on my once beautiful cherry wood floors, and my floors now look like crap. They have a greasy film all over them and they attract more dust and dirt than ever before. I tried a 50/50 mixture of windex and vinegard, which seems to help a little, but still pretty streaky. Not sure what else to do, but I'm very frustrated and I completely regret buying this product.

When we installed our floors, we used Mineral spirits to remove the glue residue. After installed, I used Orange Glo for regular cleaning and I noticed the dull filmy residue. I remembered how nice of a shine that we had after using the Mineral spirits during installation. So I used it again to see if it would remove the Orange Glo, and it worked beautifully. On hands and knees I poured a small amount of Mineral spirits on to a terry cloth rag and wiped a 2x2 area, then went back and wiped off with a dry rag. Shines beautifully! Now I just have to find something to clean with regularily that won't leave a residue.

I had Pergo laminate and for shine used the Quick Shine--same problem as Orange Glo. Tried everything the cleanser especially for Pergo, and just about everything else mentioned on this site. The thing that worked amazing was what one other person mentioned the Armstrong Floor Stripper And Cleaner. It is in a white container with Green on the front. Trust me! When I poured this on my floor and rubbed it around with a damp sponge, the layers upon layers of "shine products" came right off down to the original floor. Your laminate will look better than the day it was put down. The stripper is perfectly safe for laminate and it doesnt have a strong smell. If you have a large area just use a sponge mop.

I had the exact same problem with Orange Glo. I have been trying for months to fix my floors, I thought I had ruined them actually, The Magic Eraser does help remove the wax film but it does not get rid of it. What did finally do the trick was cleaning the floors first with the magic eraser then following up with Windex with vinegar and a towel. If you let the windex WITH VINEGAR sit on the floor for a few seconds--and only a few seconds--you will start to see the wax film bubble up and with a little grunt work you should be able to once again have film free floors!

Orange Glow is the worst I've ever seen.
I have "high gloss" laminate Floors
I tried it all.
Simple Geeen is the only way to go!

1:Wet small sections 2'x2' hand scrub (yes on hands an knees) with wash cloth.

2: Use terry cloth towl and buff.
Change Buffing towel as it gets moist.

This will remove any residue on the floor and it will shine like new.

Hey everyone, I had installed laminate floors main and basement level and since I have done nothing but complain and told hubby they were gonna go if I couldn't find a cleaner that didn't leave a residue. Well I saw on here the 1/2 cup of each windex and vinegar and OMG.IT WORKED GREAT! No streaks and floors are back to normal once again.

The only thing now is I am on the search for a good product to bring back some luster. I saw and read up on Rejuvenator, sold in Home Depots and once I am in the city again next week I am gonna give this a shot .Will come back and let you all know how it is...GREAT TIPS..LOVE THIS SITE!

Any cleaner with a petroleum base will streak and leave residue on the laminate flooring. I have had the best luck with BioKleen, a non-petroleum based cleaner found in health-food stores and recently in some of the chain supermarkets. I'm not sure how successful it will be in removing existing residue, fortunately my floor never got to that point, but it certainly works well otherwise, and no residual streaks. As a precaution, I do rinse the floor once after washing.

We had the same problem, I did have success with acetone, as recommended by the flooring manufacturer. But the smell makes it not fun. My wife found a floor cleaner, Brite one step, we mixed it with ammonia and water and it works great at removing the residue! Better than acetone! Give it a shot, and its cheap.

I don't have pets, but the Revita-Shine always made my floor look absolutely beautiful. It does apply a residue layer, and I can't imagine applying it as frequently as they specify (they say every week or something? yeah, right)

I would put it on the laminate floor at my last home every couple of months. If you apply it as directed, it does wonders to the laminate floor.

It appears Orange Glo no longer sells this product - which is a shame because it really did work well.

I have a resolution but its not easy....Armstrong Floor Stripper for No Wax Floors. I moved into a house with laminate floors. The people who lived here before me left the Orange Glow cleaners so I used it for a while. When I started to notice that my dogs were scratching the floor, I knew something was wrong. Come to find out, the built up residue was what they were scratching...Luckily, they also left the floor stripper in the garage. I tried it in a small area and it worked great. The problem is that it is a project. I bought a scrub brush and attached it to a broom stick that I already had and that seems to make it go a little quicker...hope this helps.

This also happened to me. I accidentally used the revitalizer on our brand new hardwood floors and it left a permanant glue like haze on the dark, cherry wood. I tired scubbing, light sanding, vinegar - nothing worked. Although our floors are hardwood, not laminate, I decided to try Goo Gone on a small patch. Sprayed the gel, let it sit for a few minutes, worked the product in, let it sit again and repeated one last time until it was virtually dry. After about 45 minutes, I washed the spot with a little dish soap and hot water. It worked! The next day I did the entire floor and it was back to normal. I called Goo Gone to be sure the product would not create long term problems. They said "no" - just be sure to wash with soapy water after it had dried. It would've cost us 2000.00 to refinish our floors from Orange Glo if Goo Gone hadn't worked.

I also had this happen. My floors look horrible where I have used the orange glo. My floors are only a year old. Upstairs where I did not use it they still look fine. I hate them so much I am ready to tear it up. It is not worth the trouble. They always look streaky unless I put on that Hollywood floor shine and that only lasts a couple of days and is very expensive. I even tried to poly the floors it's hopeless.

This happened to me too!! and my puppy had an accident on the floor and now there is this big area where the wax is stripped away, and reapplying the Revitilizer has no effect. The Orange Glo cleaner is ok I guess, but the Revitilizer totally ruined my floor. How do I strip Pergo to remove the residue?

I have had laminate flooring for about 5 years and have tried a lot of different things. I just read the label on Orange Glo and knew it was not the product I wanted. Lowe's carries a laminate floor cleaner in a spray bottle. The Brand is PB. You can find it in the laminate flooring section. I use a mop with terry cloth towels. Just throw them in washer when finished. When I start I spray terry cloth until damp and then start spritzing floor and mopping.
I have learned from experience water dulls and spots. I only use water for a heavy spill. Good luck. I have found my floor started to shine like new after several uses.

Well, ladies, I must have the flooring from Krypton sitting on some metal shelves in my back yard. I found the supply being tossed and it looks like new after being rained on for ONE FULL YEAR. There are several colors, and the back is painted light brown, if that's a clue as to a brand. I wanted to test it before placing it into the house, but I'm a believer now that it WILL and CAN take water, WITHOUT buckling.

I don't know what else to say. The finish is still just the same great shine, the backs on some new pieces and the tops on other new pieces to the sky are UN affected by weather! Weird, huh? ( : -D

I had the same problem from orange Glo and found that the Mr. Clean Eraser pads also will gently scrub the floor to get the worst of it off. Problem-you have to get on your hands and knees and do small sections at a time, but for high traffic areas it really does work well- I will be using suggestions given for cleaning in the future! Hope this helps.....

Each brand of laminate flooring has their own care recommendations. Pergo brand recommends either their cleaner or a vinegar & water wash w/ a damp rag. Excess water is very harmful & can get into the cracks & buckle the flooring. Dry the floor w/ a towel if necessary. No need to rinse.

Contact the company that MAKES the flooring, not the one that sells it. Also, you might do a search of the internet for laminate floor care and see what you get. I have Pergo and they say do not use anything except the stuff in the spray bottle I get at Lowes or Home Depot. Water will cause your floor to buckle so I would not use the vinegar solution.
Good luck!

I don't know anything about the Orange Glo product, but have you tried the concentrated orange/citrus peel cleaner? I've used it (in diluted form) to clean masking-tape residue off windows, and I've seen it literally dissolve crayon marks. I've bought it under different brand names in health food stores - its (naturally occurring) active ingredient is d-limonene, and it has a lovely citrus smell. Best of luck!
