Straightening Hair Without Damaging It?

I have wavy hair and want to chemically straighten it. Will this damage my hair?

Yes, but no more than a permanet. Follow directions carefully. Read the related sites first.

Yes, using a straightener will damage your hair-any chemical (including some shampoos and conditioners) will have an adverse affect on your hair especially if you use it over a long period of time.

I have wavy hair too, and have found over the years that blow drying it with the air stream directed down over the hair will kill the wave in a heartbeat, as will a straight, all over one length haircut-the longer the better to add weight to the strands and pull them down.

A layered haircut, however, takes the weight off of the hair and in doing so, releases the waves so you can get quite the curly look by scrunching as the hair dries. The shorter the cut, the springy-er those waves get, too, lol!
