Sunlight makes dark wood lighter and light wood darker. Prevent uneven discoloration of antique furniture by keeping it away from windows that receive direct sunlight. Once a piece of furniture has changed color, you may need to completely refinish the piece to restore it.

Consider having professional window film installed on your windows to filter ultraviolet rays, heat, & sunlight, all of which are the major causes of fading & discoloration. Other benefits include lowering the a/c demand & providing health benefits in uv reduction to you as well:)
