Cats Attitudes Have Changed
I have two female cats, Polly and Ally. I got Polly when she was a kitten at a animal shelter knowing that she was a wild cat, and I got Ally about 3 months after I got Polly. I got Ally from a friend who couldn't have pets in his home. Polly is now 2 yrs old and Ally is about 5 yrs old. Polly and Ally have always been good cats around my boyfriend and Polly would even crawl up in bed with us and sleep in between us.

My boyfriend went away for 4 months to Alaska and when he came back both Ally and Polly changed dramatically. Ally loves my boyfriend but hates me. She won't come near me anymore and will growl or even hiss at me if I try and pick her up or pet her. And Polly all of a sudden started hissing at my boyfriend every single time he goes near her or even looks at her but she is so lovey dovey with me.
What gives?

I have a friend with about 4 cats. Her husband does not like cats. He went on a business trip and the whole time he was gone, her cats would bite, nip and scratch her. When he came back home, they quit doing it. He just leaves the cats alone all the time. She said the behavior was as if the balance of the house was upset so they blamed her!

CHANGE! My German Short hair is the same way, to the point when I come back from a shopping trip of a few hours, she swacks my leg with her paw. She knows when I am leaving, I set up her food, fresh water, take her out to potty, then she comes back and stands guard at her dish, sneaking looks at me, argues when I try to pet her. So I leave her favorite channel on the TV--Food Network--the rocker with her blanket on (yes even after 8 years) and if it is more than 4 hrs away, someone comes to let her out to potty. She is so excited to see me when I come home--and I get swacked.

Cats HATE change. I have 10. Be patient. They will come around. Don't do anything different than b4 he left. I lost my job in October. Now my babies are so used to me being @ home, when I do go back to (hopefully SOON) they will panic for a few days. Don't worry. They are just like kids.
Good Luck!

They're both probably just confused so just be patient and act like you always did in the past before your sweetie being away for so long. They'll come around and adjust to their old selves again in time :-) If you make a big deal out of it, it might make matters worse :-(

whichever cat is treating you in a hostile manner, the one t hat is getting the "flak" from the feline, needs to be the one who cares for and handles treats for that cat.

When the cat acts that way at you, turn your back on it and take its food and put it up for a while, nolonger than an hour. Always keep water available. If they are being fed free choice, which means food is always available, start feeding them soft food three times a day so they will come to depend on you for food.

Hope this works. You can also say "no" in a firm voice but don't look directly in their eyes.

good Luck...
Robyn

Treat the other cat in its presence for being nice to you.
