Do the peaches have to be drained before adding to the pan or do you use juice and all? Thanks

I make this same recipe, the only change that i make in mine is to do only 1/2 cup of sugar in batter and no sugar on top. It is sweet enough made this way.

Recipe: Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 7 small to medium ripe peaches, peeled, pitted and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1-18 oz. cake mix (yellow or white) unprepared
  • 1 cup butter, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9x13 inch pan. In a medium saucepan, combine peaches, sugar, ginger and cornstarch. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Pour into prepared 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix (I use a flour sifter to make sure cake mix will be smooth) over the peach mixture. Drizzle the butter over the cake mix. Bake for 1 hour or until top is lightly browned and peaches are bubbling. Serve with whipped or ice cream.
