Here is a bird/squirrel feeder hubby made for our yard. Although the design is not his own, he saw one in his customers yards and came home, made it out of scrap wood (leftover from a boat he is working on), and a large pickle jar we had in the house. We neglected to coat it with a clearcoat to protect it from the elements, but we'll make another and be sure to do so. It has already has repeat visits from a family of titmice, and squirrels, and one bumblebee who we had to let out due to him bumping into the glass *grin*. Source: Seen in another's yard. Ghost (German Shepherd/Siberian Husky) Ghost is a 13 month old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky Cross. I got him about 8 months ago from an animal shelter in Michigan. Ghost likes to eat, play fetch, and wrestle. He talks and carries on conversations with me and loves to snuggle. He's the most loyal dog I've ever had. These contests are weekly. We pick 2 tip winners and 1 photo winner at the end of each week. Each winner will win $25!
My tip concerns removing odors from objects, furniture, etc. If you can put it in a plastic bag or cover it with sheet plastic to seal, then just buy however many bags of charcoal briquettes and cover the object with them. Seal it closed and let set for a few days or even a couple of weeks. You may have to do this more than once but I doubt it. If the surface is finished you can lay the charcoal on paper towels and it will still work. I once had a new freezer full of meat, vegetables and other items that accidentally had the power turned off to it and everything inside rotted. The stench was terrible. After all cleaning methods failed, we lined the shelves inside with charcoal briquettes, closed it up for two weeks and all the odor was gone. The freezer was like new again. By Kacee from Clinton, IN Editor's Note: Be sure to use only regular charcoal, not the self lighting kind that is treated with lighter fluid. Contest Contender!

About two months ago I went through my towels. I had some of my own which were old and some I had inherited. I had a lot, some of which were cheap and worn. I zig zagged them in squares about 12 inches, so that when I cut them they were edged. They are brilliant for using as cleaning cloths and wiping down washed tiles or work surfaces, leaving them smear free. Then I chuck them in the washer with the usual towel wash. There is always capacity in the towel wash, so it isn't extra cost there. My purchase of paper kitchen towel is now almost nil. If you acquire old towels, this is a great way to use them. Store Seasonal Clothes With Dryer Sheets I use dryer sheets (such as bounce, etc) to keep my out-of-season clothes smelling fresh and ready to wear. By simply placing a dryer sheet on the hanger, your clothes will be ready for you to wear when the seasons change once again. I had tried placing room fresheners in my out-of-season closet, but they seem to lose their fragrance much too quickly. By Patsy B. from the Glorious state of Texas Contest Contender!

Have Kids Decorate Their Own Cakes Our Grandchildren were visiting last week. I wanted to do something different for their party. This was the highlight of the party (the children attending were 2, 3, 5, 6 and 12 years old). I made a plain yellow cake mix in a 9X13 inch pan. When it came time for cake, I had the children sit in a circle in the kitchen floor. Next, I cut each child a generous piece of cake. I placed several cups of different kinds of frosting, candy and "sprinkles" and those sugar Happy Birthday-numbers and letters. Then I told the children to decorate their cake. They loved doing this and had a wonderful time. We were surprised at how wonderful each child's "decorated cake" turned out. This was the hit of the party, even the 2 year old decorated her cake. Some of the frosting was lopped-sided but each cake was so very special. One of the little girls wouldn't eat her cake and insisted on taking it home so that she could go to her grandparents house and show and share her cake with them. Why didn't I think of this when our children were growing up! If you try this I'm sure it will be as big of a hit at your house as it was with ours. So happy birthday all, enjoy your cake!
