Valentine's Day Note Cards

Here's one of my collections of Valentine's Day note cards. I take the pictures myself and print them on quality white matte note cards.

Eddie (Bombay?)

This is Eddie, my kitten that I adopted after a friend found him wandering along side a road as a tiny kitten in Northern Michigan. He is about 2 months old.

I have 9 other former ferals that I have living with me, and take photos of them for cards that I make. This is one of the Valentines's Day cards we plan to send out to friends and family.

Eddie has a favorite friend, "Midnight," who we saved after her mother was trapped and euthanised, and she was left as a 2 week old kitten, by people who were trapping ferals. Eddie and Midnight look identical.

We think Eddie is a Bombay but of course we are guessing. He is totally black with gold eyes.

Eddie enjoys playing and romping around the house with all our cats, but his favorite is playing with Midnight.

Thank you,

Mrs. L. Stasa

Today's Tips

Getting the Most out of Turkey or Chicken Bones

To pull the calcium out of chicken or turkey bones add 1 ounce vinegar to each quart of water up to 4 ounces total when you are making soup stock. It will not give a vinegar taste to the soup but will draw out ALL the nutrients in the bones.

Saving Money on Flour

Tips for saving money on flour. Post your ideas.

Buying Flour

Buying flour is usually cheaper in the five pound bags as opposed to the twenty five pound bags so there is NO savings in buying bulk on this item.

Trading Services with Friends

Use the barter system with a friend. I have a friend that sews and I don't. She loves my homemade soup and bread. I love her sewing. So, we trade soup and bread for sewing talents. We end up both happy campers.

Removing Black Soot from Woodstove Window

Vinegar on a newspaper works great on getting the black soot off of your woodstove window and much easier than using oven cleaner.

Dusting Tips: Dealing with Dust

Dusting the Corners and Improving Air Quality

I swear by this. Attach a rag sprayed with your favorite dusting spray to a broom secure with a rubber band or old hose and give your ceiling a quick dusting. it does wonders for the air quality.

Testing Seeds before Planting

Before using flower or veggie seed from a previous year, place a wet paper towel in a pie plate and sprinkle some seeds on it. Tuck this into a plastic bag. See if the seeds germinate. If not, buy fresh.

Inspiring Yourself To Pay Off Debt

Ideas and tips to help you stay motivated and inspired to pay off debt. Post your ideas.

If you want to "get inspired" to pay down your mortgage or car loan just tape an amortization chart on your fridge so you are constantly reminded how much your "paying" for the luxury of a loan.

Removing Logos From Promotional Items

I recently purchased a small coin purse from a surplus store. The tiny purse had a company logo on it. I used fingernail polish remover the wipe off the gold lettering of the logo. This is a great tip if you ever receive any promotional items like tote bags, cloth briefcases to remove the logo and make it plain.

Reusing Crystal Lite Containers

The large containers for crystal lite and such are a great holder for crochet hooks and nuts and bolts. The bottle of wine holders that everyone is selling is super for knit needles.

Substitutions For Eggs

Items you can substitute for eggs in recipes. Post your ideas.

Replacing Eggs

To replace an egg or two in a recipe for health or just cost effective reasons use 1 Tbsp. soy flour and 1 Tbsp. water for each egg deleted. No difference in final produce except lower fat content and cost.

Keeping Heels from Slipping with New Shoes

When wearing a new pair of shoes with stockings, you might hear a noise as you walk where the heel slips off the shoe because of perspiration and newness of the shoe. Well put some rubber cement (glue) on the heel section of the shoe, let it dry and it works like a charm, no more noise and embarrassment.

Uses for Fruit Juice

Uses for fruit juice, other than drinking it. Post your ideas.

Leftover Juice

Save leftover fruit juice until there's enough to fill an ice cube tray. The cubes add extra flavor to lemonade, iced tea, or jello.

Ice in the Punch

Using Magic Erasers

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, I Like to cut them up before use, they last longer this way. I also use one small square to clean my dry erase message board (dry of course). It cleans the board much more thoroughly than anything that I've tried.

Cleaning Old Marble End Tables

I am in need of help with cleaning Marble end tables that I just got back into this house after 35 years. The End tables were given to a family member years ago and now that I have them back she has painted the table and the tan marble with Brown ugly paint.

I got most of the paint off of the marble but there is still some in the small pits of the grain. I would like to know how to clean these really well and also what will make them shine again like they once did. This is not white marble it is Tan marble. Each table top weighs about 25-30 lbs I know this can be done to make them shine again, all help will be tried.

Thanks,
Keith

Crocheted Skunk Air Fresh Cover

Cleaning Denim Vest With Mink Lining

My hunter husband has gotten his denim vest soiled with soil. I want to put it in the washing machine but it has a real mink fur lining and I don't know what washing it will do to the fur. The fur is not dirty only the denim weight, green, army type material is dirty. The fur lining is sewn right with the material, not a zipper lining.

Getting Rid of Snails

I am new to this list, I stumbled upon it as I was searching for remedies to get rid of snails. A neighbor gave me a plant and it had snails in it and now they just ate an amaryllis that is on my balcony. I read about using coffee. They gave a % of a solution, but I have no idea how to dilute any coffee to those proportions. Just made a pot for them and thought that I would just put it in a spray bottle and spray the plants and then put the grounds around the plant. Any advice or opinions.

Wet Stain On Suede Jacket

My son "threw" his suede jacket into his locker at school and a wet smelly substance, (who knows what), was on the sleeve. He tried to wash it off with water. Now has a wet looking, still smelly sleeve. I have tied off the sleeve into a bag that is filled with baking soda. Any suggestions to get a uniformed color back from what the washing with water left on the jacket's sleeve? With dry cleaning being so expensive, he can just go purchase another jacket!
Thanks for your help,

Mrs. Jones

Need Help Rearranging My Living Room

I need some help rearranging my living room. We have a room that has several windows and is very difficult to work with. I am hoping to make this room a bit more cozy and inviting as well as improve the lighting.

The entrance to the room has a small place. The TV is placed in a triangular shape between the wall and the window as that is where the plugs are. The little wall like thing opposite the door is about 4 feet tall and I place a silk flower pot on it.

Please help with the placement of the couch, etc., to make it more inviting. We have two kids under age of 5.
