Gingerbread People You Know
Gingerbread People You Know
Use brown paper grocery bags, or the piece of brown paper you often find rolled up after the gift wrap is gone to make these personal Gingerbread People with faces that your child knows. These may be used for tree ornaments, package decorations, or card enclosures for relatives far away. Great teacher gift, too.

TIME TO PREPARE: 10 minutes
AGE: 4 and UP
COST: Pennies

Materials:

  • Brown paper grocery bag, etc.
  • Photos of family and friends printed on card stock. (You may have to adjust the photo size for your project).
  • Cookie cutters of gingerbread children.
  • Buttons, beads, etc.
  • Yarn
  • Tacky glue, crayons

Gingerbread People You Know

Instructions:

  • 1. Trace around cookie cutters onto brown paper.
  • 2. Cut out shapes.
  • 3. Carefully cut out faces from photos. (The more detailed the cut, the better the final project will look).
  • 4. Glue faces onto gingerbread people.
  • 5. Add buttons, beads, etc.
  • 6. Optional: attach yarn to edge of people to resemble frosting.
  • 7. Add details with crayons.
  • 8. Attach yarn hanger.

I think this craft is adorable. I am going to have my daughter make them for her preschool teachers.
