Tessa Babes (Yorkshire Terrier)

Tessa Babes is an 8 year old Yorkshire Terrier. I bred my Tessa's mom Buffy 8 years ago. She had 4 puppies so I kept the girl one and that was my Tessa Babes.

Tessa likes to play with her squeaky ducky and run around the house. We love her so much!

Making Oatmeal Scotchies Better

The recipe on the back of the butterscotch morsels bag, for oatmeal scotchies, is good, but I made it much better. When it comes to the oatmeal and the nuts (sliced almonds are best), grind them both in a coffee grinder. This makes a softer, more flavorful cookie and takes 5 minutes less to bake. For the liquid, use, pure maple syrup, or grand mariner. Not water.

Replacing Incandescent Bulbs with Compact Fluorescents

Replace your regular light bulbs with the spiral shaped ones.
I did and saved a couple of dollars on my electric bill.
Besides that they last a lot longer. Buy less bulbs so there is a savings there also.

Hair Curling Tip

This is a beauty tip for all you ladies out there. This morning I was having trouble with my hair, as we all do at times. I was using a curling iron but it just didn't seem to be holding the curl. Well, we were staying in a hotel room overnite and right by my plugin was a small dryer on the wall. I got a nifty idea.

I curled my hair up in the curling iron like you normally would and the took the little blow dryer in the other hand and turned it on high and went back and forth over the length of the curling iron barrel (keep in mind you have to already have curled your hair up in it.) I counted to about 20 and let it go and wahlaa. I have the most beautiful, full of body curl ever!

My mom commented on how amazing my hair looked and asked me what I did and I shared this tip with her. Try it! It's just as good as hot rollers!

Buying a Local Entertainment Book

My tip is for shopping for food. Buy your local Entertainment Book, which usually costs between $25 and $35, depending on where you live. Each month, if you spend $50 on groceries at one time, you'll receive a $5.00 gift card which you can use on your next visit. Just by using these coupons in the book, you're already money ahead for the year. (12 x 5 = $60.00)

Tip for Washing Walls

When washing my walls I use lemon scented ammonia with water. Half and half. This really cuts through grease and doesn't leave a film.

Doing Laundry Less Often

I found that I saved a good amount of money by waiting 2 weeks to do laundry -- and also by ironing only once every 2 weeks. Savings have been about $50.00 a month on our electric bill!

Microfiber Sofa Covers

I have microfiber sofa covers that can zip off, can I machine wash them? If I can, what kind of soap can I use? If I can't, how can I get the spots off them? My dog threw up on them. I cleaned it but its still there, and I want to clean them off. It bugs me that I have spots on my couch, eventhough it's tan!

Decorating Around Leather Furniture

I am seriously baffled at what to do to decorate around the hideous colored leather oversized couch and leather chair my boyfriend chose! I can't even put my finger on the color (please see photo)! Can anyone suggest any colors that can jazz up this strange furniture that is taking up all of my living room? I would hate to go totally neutral. I have been using golden tans and soft greens but I am over it and would like something a bit more unique. I am finding it hard to find colors that will match! Has anyone got any suggestions?

Blending Suede Paint Colors

Does anyone have know if its possible to blend two different shades of a similar color of suede paint on one wall? Would it work with that technique? I am thinking of trying to marble two shades of taupe together to get a little bit more texture going on. It'll help disguise my icky plaster walls. Any advice would be helpful.

Village Candles Fragrances

I bought a jar candle made by Village Candles. The fragrance I bought is called pina colada. It smells great! Has anybody ever bought Village Candles and what fragrance do you like? I would like to get some ideas for some other fragrances, before I shell out more money for a fragrance I may not like, even though every one has different taste.

Thanks,

Preventing Color From Bleeding on Clothing

I bought my new grandson an outfit that is white and red cotton. We washed as instructed and the red faded on the white. I returned it and thought I would try again. Can you please tell us what to do to keep the red from fading on this cute little "flyer radio" outfit.

Do we soak it in some type of solution before we wash it to keep the red from running? Please help.

Wedding Wrap Pattern

I need a little help in finding a pattern for a plus size (3x or 4x) White Wedding Wrap, the kind that you wear around your shoulders with a sleeveless Wedding Dress. It appears simple to make but I'm not sure how or where to start. I do know I would like it to stand up and not be falling down to my elbows all night. If it can be made without a pattern, how do you do it?

Thanks!

Dessert Recipes for Two

With my son away at college I'm in need of cake and other dessert recipes for two. Preferably those baked in a 8-inch square pan or 9-inch round pan. I'm a chocoholic but eating a 13x9 cake gets to be a little much, even for me. I also like apples, peaches and bananas if you have any recipes for two along that line. Many thanks!

Painting a Ceiling Dark

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put dark red paint on a ceiling. The room is 15' X 13' with 10' ceilings with T-1-11 natural wood 4 feet up with a chair rail that will be stained. It will be like a bar setting with a poker table a small bar and a computer desk.
