Holiday Applesauce Cake
1 C. Crisco Solid Shortening
2 C. White Sugar
2 Eggs
2 C. Applesauce
2 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt (I use less)
3 C. Flour
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp each: Cloves, Allspice, Ginger, Nutmeg
1 Box Seedless Raisins
1 C. Chopped Walnuts
1 C. Chopped Maraschino Cherries
Toss Raisins with a half cup of the flour; set aside.
Add Baking Soda to Applesauce; set aside
Mix dry ingredients together; set aside
Cream Crisco, Sugar, and Eggs.
Add dry ingredients and applesauce alternately to Crisco/Sugar/Egg mixture.
Fold in Raisins, Nuts, and Cherries
Bake in a greased tube pan, 325 degrees, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours.
Cool in Pan.
Unmold and enjoy!
Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs. Beat well stir in applesauce and add dry ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.

Mix ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees in a 9x13 inch pan.

Cream sugar and shortening; add egg and beat. Add flour and dry ingredient, except baking soda. Add baking soda to hot applesauce then mix into mixture.
Cream butter and sugar together. Add applesauce, raisins, and nutmeats. Sift flour, soda, and spices together and add to mixture.
Cream shortening and sugar, add slightly beaten egg. Add mincemeat and applesauce. Blend in flour, soda, spices and nuts. Mix until smooth.
Cream butter and sugar together. Dissolve soda in warm water. Then mix creamed mixture, soda, flour and applesauce together well. Add raisins, nuts, cloves and cinnamon.
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9x13 pan. I heat the applesauce in a saucepan, melt the shortening in hot applesauce. Add sugar, raisins, nuts and dry ingredients.
Easy and inexpensive to make. Love this also because it's not super sweet tasting. Very mellow flavor.
Cream sugar and shortening; add well beaten egg and other ingredients. Bake in paper-lined 9x9 inch pan at 350 degrees F for about 60 minutes. Serve plain, frosted, or with whipped cream. I'm told this is a 50 year old recipe.
