We were always forgetting appointments, so we got a dry erase board and put it up right where we all could see it. We haven't missed an appointment since. It's also good for quick notes to each other.

I have been using http://www.familytime.com reminders since they were started. If you are online, you can use it to remind you (you set the number of days ahead) of appointments, birthdays, car inspections, etc. It is great; and if it recurrs, there is a place to enter that too. I hear there is also a http://www.remindme.com ; but I am not familiar with it.
