Spring cleaning is something my mother used to do. I'm not my mother.

Spring cleaning has been a time honored tradition and the dread of many a busy mom! But with these simple steps it won't take a lot of time either. Don't be afraid to get the kids involved!

1. Gather your tools. Every job requires the right tools and cleaning is no exception!

a. Paper towels, vacuum, all purpose cleaning solution, duster, trash bags, disinfectant, broom, mop and sponges.

2. Now start going room to room. I always begin in my living room.

a. HINT- having a check off list is helpful as you go room to room.

3. Begin by dusting the room. This includes, but not limited to, shelves, pictures, knick knacks, etc.

4. Now let's deep clean & disinfect! Clean mirrors, telephones, light switches, door knobs and other surfaces including windows.

5. Ok de-clutter time!

a. Pick up all old magazines, newspapers, toys, books, clothes and anything else lying around or out of place. b. If it doesn't have a purpose or a place give it or throw it away!

6. Next we'll brighten & polish! Polish up wood surfaces and brighten the chrome.

7. Lastly we sweep out & clean baseboards. Sweep and mop or vacuum our floors.

a. HINT - don't forget to hit the windowsills, and vents with the vacuum cleaner.

b. HINT – look up! Vacuum those ceiling fans and room corners!

8. Almost done! Add finishing touches.

a. Make beds, fluff pillows, etc.

b. Re-arrange or add decoration.

c. Light some candles or potpourri.

9. Now sit down with a good book and a glass of mint tea and relax! You deserve it.
