What a load of twaddle! All that is needed to get clothes clean, unless they are stained, is water and agitation. I wash all my clothes in plain cold water. I pre treat any obvious dirty marks with soap and soak any tough stains in nappy soaker for 24-48 hours, then wash as normal. Despite all the dire warnings about infections being passed on from clothes and washing machines I have yet to experience any, nor have I ever seen any scientific studies to give any credence to this bizarre assertion. I would be interested if anyone could find me any references to this.

Regards

Jo
