Cut Your Alfredo Sauce With Broth

Here's a tip that can help you reduce your sugar and fat intake and save you a little money. If you buy a jar of Alfredo sauce, try cutting it with an equal amount of chicken broth. Heat the broth and sauce together, throw in some broccoli and cook until tender. Then mix this sauce with your noodles and a handful of grated Parmesan cheese. You end up with a thinner sauce but it still tastes good and has reduced fat, calories and sugar.

This worked great! Even better, I poured the alfredo sauce in the saucepan, then poured the chicken broth in the jar and swished it around to get every last drop of alfredo sauce out without having to scrape the jar so no waste!

You can also cut cost and have a healthier sauce by making your own. The recipe is one cup heavy cream, one teaspoon butter, one clove garlic crushed and one half cup Parmesan cheese. You could substitute whole milk for the cream. The advantage of making your own is that you avoid all the added preservatives and MSG that are in the prepared kind. Those are on the label.
