Cheap, Tasty, and QUICK!

Ingredients:

  • Rice ( Brown, White, etc. )
  • Meat
  • Fresh or Frozen Veggies
  • Ramen Noodle Seasoning Packets ( or spices )
  • Others (see Variations )

Directions:

Directions for 1-3:

Boil rice. About 10 minutes before tender, throw in the ingredients in the recipes and flavor with packets at the end.

Variations:

  1. Your choice of rice, 1/2 lb. hamburger, 2-3 beef ramen packets, and frozen veggie blend ( I use broccoli, mushrooms, green beans, and onion mix ).
  2. Rice, 1/2lb hamburger, 2-3 chicken ramen packets, broccoli/mushrooms, and Parmesan ( canned ). Makes a lovely broccoli cheese or broccoli au gratin rice.

  3. Chicken cubed, rice, 2-3 beef ramen packets, stir fry veggies. Make stir fried chicken and fried rice ( ramen packet to be added to rice ). If desired, add scrambled egg to the rice. Serve separately, or combine together.

  4. Prepare a few packages of ramen noodles ( do not season ), undercooking mildly. Drain, let cool. Melt butter ( or oil ) in frying pan. Throw the noodles in the butter and fry until browned. Add the seasoning and any veggies or meat you like. Makes a chow mein type dish, very tasty!

  5. Prepare ramen noodles ( do not season ). Drain fully. Add a bit of butter, Parmesan, and garlic. Very nice side dish for what it is.

Ideas:

  • You can add beef seasoning packets to brown gravy for meat loaves, pot roasts, etc.
  • Chicken packets are great for chicken and dumplings.

  • Try adding dry seasoning on top of mashed potatoes or anything in place of seasoning. It makes a huge difference.

Use your imagination. If you or your family eats ramen, 1/2 package or less is PLENTY to flavor the noodles. Save as much as possible. The base for beef ramen is soy sauce powder so this is very great in Chinese dishes/rice. While the packets are high in sodium, it isn't too bad when added to a family meal (as opposed to individual noodle serving ).
