Begin weaving, using a little tape if you need to help it stay together. Fold up the edges to form the sides of the basket and secure with tape. I like using shipping tape on larger projects and regular size for smaller ones.
Finish your top edges by trimming or adding a little ribbon or paper folded neatly. The picture shows that floral tape was used to give the edges at the top a more finished look.
The frozen pie box (the one on the top) is a good size to hold paper napkins.

Great idea. Reminds me of those I made about 40 years ago. I made baskets, etc. from folded pages of newspapers and wove into desired shape and painted them and finished off with clear lacquer or similar. Each page was folded lengthways up about 1'' or more. Continue until all folded and secure with glue or masking tape. when you get a whole lot made, then start weaving.
You can make a base cut out of a cereal box, glue all over and press weaving onto it and cut another for inside base as well. Strips can be painted before weaving if you want different colours, but is stiffer to weave. Different width strips can make it interesting. Can decorate with anything after drying, eg. crochet flowers, lace, bobbles, photos or pictures, coloured circles and shapes. Use your imagination and have fun. Sorry, no picture!
