For a Quick Painting Job |

If you like a quick painting job, paint your entire room with a Flat Latex paint, trim and all.
Then brush on a coat of varnish on your trim wrapping the sides of your trim but not the top or bottom. It will look like you have painted your trim in a Satin Oil based paint and save you a lot of time.

Why would this save any more time than using flat paint for the walls and gloss for the trim? You are still paining the trim twice. Then, when you want to remove the varnish, you've got a mess on your hands. Why not use latex gloss for the trim and latex eggshell on the walls (easier to wipe off dirt). That's the combo that has always worked best for me.

what is PST? Editor's Note: I believe she means TSP which is Trisodium Phosphate available in the paint section of the hardware store.

Flat paint is the worst thing to clean. I know, 'cause the whole inside of our house was painted with white flat paint before we bought it. It gets and looks dirty fast and you cannot clean it UNLESS you buy PST and use that.
This tip may save you a lot of time initially when painting but you will regret it forever.
