I have some pampas grass growing, but there are all kinds of weeds growing also. I was wondering if 2-4-d could be sprayed to kill the weeds, but not hurt the pampas grass?

Every year in the fall, my father-in-law would burn the pampas grass, which kills the weeds, and helped ours to grow back bigger and thicker.
