Buddy (Miniature Dachshund)
Buddy is 6 years old and a Miniature Dachshund. I got Buddy when he was 8 weeks old from a private breeder

He loves to be held. He's a real snuggler. He also loves any toy that squeaks. We've had to teach him what it means when we say "stop squeaking!" He loves to sleep on the suede pillows I made on the couch. It's his favorite place during the day. At night, he's under the covers with me!

He also loves to play with our standard Dachshund, Princess. They chase each other and wrestle all over the house. If one is outside and wants in and I don't hear, the other comes and tells me. If one is outside and barks, the other just has to go help with the barking!

Buddy is adorable. I have 4 doxies - 3 "tweenies" and 1 mini. One looks like Buddy and is going on 15 years old. Oscar and Dutch are brown and Rusty is red. The last one came to us from a family that lost their home and Rusty just loves to play with him. They are so smart and lovable, but just like potato chips, you can't have just one.

I have to upload some more recent pictures but here's Rusty.

According to the AKC breed standards, the mini is 11 pounds and under, and the standard is 16-32 pounds. I have one of each and they are both my best friends.
Any dog loves to chew, but as long as you correct them when they chew on anything they shouldn't and keep them supplied with things they should (I keep rawhide bones and rawhide pieces on hand) they won't tear up your belongings.
Also many dogs chew out of boredom. So you have to make sure they have plenty of things to keep them occupied too. I bring them each a new toy home from the dollar store once a month. I also have a big bin full of their toys in the closet, and keep a small toy bin in the living room that they can reach into themselves, Once a season I switch them out and the dogs think they have all new toys.

He is a pretty boy! I have one of my own, a black and tan dapple, named Lenard. They really are good friends!

How big is the miniature compared to the standard? He really is adorable sleeping there. I heard they like to chew. Have you found that to be true? Thanks for the picture of your beautiful black and brown baby boy. I love the breed.
