I have used both Cinnamon or Cloves. Cloves by the way you can put in homemade soups, use a pinch for a smaller amount, up to a tsp for a huge amount, especially if you are using sort of bitter things, such as celery is sometimes.

Use mace. It's almost the exact same thing.
