Softener Ball Chipping Porcelain Tub in Washer
Enter teaser before activatingI have used a softener ball for about 1 year but I have come to find out the ball has been slowly chipping the porcelain tub causing rust stains on white/light colors. It cost me $400.00 to replace the tub, since it is NOT covered on any warranty, my tip is dump the ball, use sheets! By Janet

Sticking Drawers, Windows and Sliding Glass Doors
Rub the runners of drawers and windows with paraffin wax or an old candle and they will slide more easily. This also works with sliding doors that are hard to open and shut or squeaky.

When browning meat, sprinkle a little salt in the pan before you add the meat and it will be less likely to stick.

Cut a piece of fun foam into desired shape. You can draw it, or use cookie cutters to trace around. Cut the shape out. Paper edging scissors are fun to use! Take a drop or two of essential oil or fragrance oil (from the craft store or a health food store) and rub it on with your finger. Punch a hole in the top. Use your choice of a cord to hang it with. All done! Use them in the car, bathroom, kitchen, etc. Don't pay .99-1.99 to buy one when you can make them for a lot less By Brandie

Getting Yellow Creases from Stored Dresses
Did you ever put clothing items away i.e., like an heirloom wedding dress or a christening outfit only to find out that the creases had turned a bit yellow? Well I have a solution for you but only if you can be real patient.
Take the item (you don't even have to wash it) and hang it real secure on a clothesline. Leave it there during rain, snow, sleet, what ever weather it encounters. I did this with a cotton wedding dress that was over 40 years old. I originally hung the dress out in October. and left it there for about 2 months. Keep checking to make sure that the clothespins that you use are nice & tight. Well "lo and behold" the yellow areas came out. This remedy was told to me by a woman that specializes in antique linens. Happy bygone days to yellow marks.

Gifts for Housewarming, Wedding, etc.
Recently I saw the neatest idea at a store. For $40 you could buy this clear storage bin filled with a "starter kitchen". It had I believe: two skillets, spatulas, serving spoons, measuring cups and spoons, etc. I am sure it had more in it, but do not recall what all was in there.
You could easily make your own gift similar to this. If you know far enough in advance, you could buy several things over a period of time and fill the bin with things a new kitchen would need. You could even go with a smaller bin and fill it with the smaller kitchen items.

Featured Feedback: Keeping a Mouse out of My Kitchen!
Mice can carry hanta virus, which is very dangerous to humans. Any place you've seen droppings should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. I had a mouse in my kitchen drawers, where I kept towels and odds and ends. I found a half-mice eaten granola bar and some wine corks that he had munched on. I emptied and cleaned all the drawers, and set traps with peanut butter. Next morning I opened the drawer and found 1 dead little mouse, and I let out a scream. I don't know why I was so surprised to find a mouse-after all I had set a trap. I pulled the whole drawer out, dumped it into the trash, and again disinfected the drawer. No more mice! (I washed all my towels that were in the drawer with bleach, too)

Bleach Stains from my Washer are Driving Me Nuts!
i need help. Every once in a while (more lately) when I do a colored load of wash clothes will come out with what looks to be a bleach stain on them. I have already lost a few shirts and some nice pants and I cant figure out whats doing it. I very rarely use bleach and I know I didnt spill it. I seperate the clothes and follow the lables. I am sick of losing nice clothes. It will only happen to one or two things a load and not every time I do wash. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?? Thanks for the help, Missy in PA

Give Your Children the Gift of Thrift
By Teresa Higginbotham
It seems like today, kids are barraged with sales ads in everything they see. No wonder my four year old runs up to me and repeats the commercial she just heard word for word and then emphatically demands we buy whatever it is. I can still distinctly remember when my oldest child went through this stage. Children seem to connect that sometimes people get those toys they see on TV and now they must have it. Unfortunately, Mom and Dad do not have the means or even the desire to buy every two-bit piece of plastic put up for sale on the cartoon channels. Here are a few ways to teach your children about money.

Gas Prices and Summer Car Travel
Wal-Mart announced recently their expectations of lower than normal profits due to skyrocketing gas prices. Wal-Mart's core consumers are people in the lower and middle class who often live from paycheck to paycheck. I am not worried about Walmart. They will be fine. But people who are traveling on a budget do have something to worry about.
