Courage is our 2 year old cat. The children were taking orders for cookie dough for a fundraiser and a lady had a yard full of cats. My girls immediately spotted 2 orange and white kittens and packed them around for the whole duration of the visit. One of the cats let them hold him in any postition. When it was time to deliver the cookies, the lady asked in front of the children if they'd like to keep one of the kittens (they picked them up again like the first time and took off from where they left the first visit with the kittens).
That was an easy way to give away a kitten. My husband was in Iraq, the timing of asking was "perfect". I had no choice but say yes to the screaming, happy girls. When my husband called that night the children excitedly told him there is another male in the house now.
After a quiet moment on the other line, my husband softly asked if mom brought a dog in the house without asking dad. The kids breathed easily, "No, dad, it's a kitten". It passed out well, since my husband doesn't particularly care for cats. But he sure likes this one.
He loves hunting. We have 20 acres and every morning we can see him hunting anywhere on the property.
He is the most easy going, loving cat. He has the most patience to let 3 girls put ribbons on his tail and pretend that he is wounded. I think because he gets to stay indoors when they do that to him, otherwise, I don't think he'd be so patient.
King is a 4 Month old American Pit Bull Terrier. We rescued King at the age of 3 months.
King is a water HOG. When we let King outside no matter what time of day it is, whether it's rain or shine, first thing he does is jump in his pool. His nickname is Scuba Boy because he likes to dive for toys.
King is a little human trapped in a doggy suit. He is the most loyal, affectionate and devoted "Man's Best Friend" anyone could ever wish for. He is a total "love sponge". He loves to be touched and paid attention to all the time.
He understands so much of what us humans say, that sometimes we have to talk in whispers or spell things out, like the word P-I-G-E-A-R!!. We tell him everyday that life just wouldn't be the same without him!
Cellulite? Summer? Time for therapy as well as worry. You can give yourself a nice massage to your lower problem areas standing in the surf and letting the water beat against your thighs/stomach, etc.
You can also use hot tubs, etc. year round to get a massage from the jets on your problem areas. I really see a difference when I am deprived of my water massage! (Could you use a garden hose, too? Worth a try...)
Take a car tire or black inner tube, place it on a piece of plywood. Line the hole with aluminum foil. Place a cooking (ovenproof) dish, black enamel pot, roaster, etc. in the middle of hole with the food to be cooked. Cover tire with large piece of glass. This will work on a sunny day.

Editor's Note: Here are plans for a similar design.
Pop open hampers are great for other things besides clothes. I love those new Pop Open hampers that are spring metal frame and nylon mesh construction. Each of our kids has one, each in a different color and they know to put their dirty clothes in them.
I bought another and took on a recent trip in the mini van. We used it in the room as a catch all and later put our dirty clothes in for the trip home. They also would hold toys, bath toys and pool toys. I'm sure you could come up with more ideas.
I see our Ace Hardware has them on sale for just 2 bucks each but even the regular price at Wal-Mart isn't bad. They fold up totally flat so they don't take up much space at all when not in use.
Water is a precious resource. I re-use the wash and rinse cycles of my washing machine to water my garden. No government agency has hassled me yet over putting gray water on flower beds. When the water pumps into my utility sink, I stop it up and hold recycled milk jugs at the spout, which I then set aside for later use.
It's good exercise and builds up the arm muscles and teaches my daughter a wonderful lesson about conservation. The plants appreciate it, too. Sometimes while I'm schlepping water, I think of Jack & Jill going up the hill to fetch water... kinda silly, but then again, so am I. :) I'm in the market for a foot pump so I can use my bathtub water, too, because filling jugs can get a little messy. Although a little water never hurt anything.
If you run out of shaving cream, or if you have purchased a hair conditioner that just doesn't seem to work for your hair, use it as a shaving cream! It works wonderfully. The razor will glide over the conditioner and your legs will be left smooth and with a close, smooth shave.

Ladies, to save money on shaving cream for your legs buy the cheapest hair conditioner and use that on your legs. The hair conditioner softens the hair on your legs to give you a close shave and your legs are smooth, too. I once purchased a bottle of hair conditioner for $.25 with coupons which is much cheaper than regular shaving cream and it lasts longer too.

Instead of using expensive shaving cream, try this great substitute - hair conditioner! My daughter and I use conditioner to shave, Its cheaper than shaving cream, stays on even in the shower and makes you legs smooth as silk. We use any cheap variety and have sworn off shaving cream for good :)
A great way to get more life out of worksheets is to use the clear plastic sheets made for overhead projectors on top of the worksheet. Then fill out the worksheet using pens made for overhead projectors. You can clean off the sheets and use them again and again. This is an especially useful tip for homeschoolers.
I mentioned purchasing the food storage containers called "Freshvac" (purchased at Target) and said I'd report back after using.
They kept asparagus and cut up watermelon fresh. I got about 5 days out of the asparagus (had to cut off the woody end part a little bit to make it fit and did not pre-rinse). The watermelon was eaten up in 3 days, but it seemed fresher than usual (in the tub with the plastic grid on the bottom).
Cherries and blueberries were pretty much the same whether in a Tupperware with a paper towel on top changed when too moist or a Freshvac.
My chief complaint with Freshvac is that my favorite size rectangle (the middle one with the grid) is only available as part of a set of 3 and not available separately at a lower price.
Am planning on going to Whole Foods Market shortly and buying paper towels that are not bleached so that nothing leaches into the food that they rest on.
When the onions have reached the state of doneness you want, add some water to the pan, then cook til the water is almost, but not entirely, absorbed. The onions draw in the water and become more tender and juicy.
When using a craft product (such as a cigar box) and there is a price sticker on it, use a hair dryer to help remove it. It comes off easier and leaves no sticky residue.

WD40
I tried a tip that really works to get rid of hard-to-remove tags. WD40 did the trick. I read about it from their newsletter. I tried nail polish remover first with little success. Fished out my spray can of WD40, gave both tags a shot, let sit for about 5 to 10 minutes and -- presto -- gunk gone with ease.
Instead of buying chemicals to get rid of ants in mounds, sprinkle cream of wheat or malto meal on the mound. The ants will eat it, the cereal expands in their stomachs, and the they die. Cheap, easy, safe.
Does anyone know of jobs that a pregnant woman can get? My Youth Minister husband was asked to put in his resignation 2 weeks ago. He was asked to give it the next Sunday and then not to come back. We knew only those at the church so we immediately moved in order to be closer to family. (Our little one will be here in about 3-4 months.)
<P>My husband is trying to find another youth/children's ministry position in this area, but I would like to help out if possible. We are currently living in an apt his aunt owns and has offered us, but we need some income before the baby is born. Needless to say we can't afford a home-based business that will make me have to buy anything to get it started.
If you can help please let me know. Also any prayer support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.
I want to visit Sugar Creek, Ohio to the Amish Country. Has anyone been there and can tell me what they enjoyed doing or seeing? We plan to visit there in September.
I do hope someone will be able to help me! I got dahlia sap (a black stain) on the front of a new red t-shirt (ployester/cotton). I suppose I could "recycle" it to wear in the garden, but, as it is new, I do not want to do that. I've tried everything: Spot-out pre-wash, hairspray, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide but it SITS for all it's worth. I am willing to try any legal tip as I become more stubborn and determined to remove the stain the longer it sits.
I recently got divorced after 40 years and I am trying to get my credit cleaned up after he made a mess of it. I was surprised to find that there was a credit card with over $50,000 on it! In the divorce settlement, he was to take over all debts for the exception of one. Now, how do I get this off my credit, obliviously it was opened in the 90's when we were still married and he put my name on it also. Can anyone help me? I think the bank will just say too bad, your name is there. I talked with him and he said he doesn't have the money to pay it off and it will go into default or whatever it is called.
"Hat" theme party ideas: My daughter turns 1 in a couple weeks and our theme for her party is "hats". We picked the theme because it was one of her first words and she says "hat" anytime she sees one. Any ideas for how to make a hat-shaped cake? Also, any EASY ideas for decorations or other things to go along with the theme? Thanks!
Request: I would like to know if anyone has used K-9 Advantix AFTER using the Frontline for dogs (any size.) Does it work faster than the Frontline Plus? And is the price comparable or much more?
Does anyone have any ideas for a 1920s themed wedding? I want an elegant wedding that avoids the tackiness of plastic pearls, long cigarette smokers, and cheap fedoras. Any other classy 1920s ideas?
I'm have nice healthy looking plants but most of the fruits turning yellow and rotting. I read somewhere this is from being calcium deficient. Do you agree and what would be the best way to add calcium?
I'm looking for directions for making a hanging mobile using CDs and some foam-type of material. A friend had one hanging in her child's room and it was really cute. The body of the fish was a CD, a plastic eye was glued to it, and heavy-type material was stuck thru the CD to make a fin. Does anyone have specific directions on how to make these? Thanks!
My walls are staining, as the windows are not always kept open in the apartment. How do I clean up the walls which are painted with a water based paint and get rid of all the black marks on it?
I have been contemplating purchasing a rotisserie, but wonder about the amount of cleaning required after use. Just how difficult is it to get these machines clean. Any suggestions, comments?
My wife is turning 25. We have been married for 8 months and I have no idea what to get her. I think she has high hopes for this B-day. Her twin sister has a big costume party being thrown for her. We don't live near them, and don't have friends yet because we just moved here. So I need a good gift. Please help,
We are on a tight budget and planning my 3 year olds Butterfly Birthday party. We have a large family (approximately 50 will be attending), so we had to rent the biggest cheapest pavilion (it has no electricity). I have about everything planned out - making our own decorations and pinata. We'll have grab bags made for the kids. I have games planned. I copied butterfly pictures out of coloring books and cut out butterflies for a butterfly hunt and the elephfun game (It spits butterflies out and you catch it).
So everything is pretty much figured out, the only thing I need help with is what should I make for everyone to eat. I can't get away with just having cake, since when the family gets together, it usually lasts for a few hours. We can't take our gas grill with us (no space, too far away for 2 trips). We do have a camping grill - but we don't want to spend all day cooking for everyone.
I am thinking about baked beans (I can cook them earlier in the day and they should keep warm for awhile), bow-tie pasta salad (to simulate butterflies) and fruit salad. Does anyone have any ideas on what I else could make? We are on a limited budget - only have about $50 left for food. We are making koolaid and iced tea to drink (already have it). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
I need a recommendation on a good Electric Skillet to buy. The one I had broke after many years of faithful service and is no longer manufactured. RIP. Would anyone like to suggest a stainless vs a non-stick? Otherwise, what are your non-stick recommendations?
Grocery Savings. Does anyone know of a Canadian site for grocery saving coupons or a local shopping site to compare prices? They have them all over the U.S. but so far I have not been able to find this in Canada. The best I can do is check each individual grocery store and look at their flyers. We used to receive a coupon booklet every so often, but we don't receive them anymore.
Freezing radically alters the texture of tomatoes, but they can still be used successfully in certain recipes after freezing. Select firm, undamaged green tomatoes.
Enjoy a warm breakfast by yourself, with your family or even with guests when you keep this deliciously filling granola on hand in the freezer! Its also a great way to get your grains for the day.
