These bridesmaid dresses were made by my daughter's mother in-law for no charge. The total cost of each of them was about $50. That is buying material that was NOT on sale. The bride's (my daughter) dress was purchased from a friend for $20 and dry cleaned. The flower girl's dress was a dress that she already owned that had been purchased from a clearance rack at Von Maur for about $20. It was originally purchased for an anniversary celebration. Beautiful dresses done very inexpensively.

I love it. Did anyone provide their bridesmaids with a budget sheet?

I have never understood why women want to spend so much for a dress that we will only wear once (hopefully) and then spend so much more for everyone elses dress (that are usually ugly)(theses dresses are gorgeous). This proves that you can do a wedding on a budget.

Kudos...big fancy weddings are SO wasteful, all that money could go towards something substantial...and with todays divorce rate, give me a break.
Great going , good to see some common sense for a change!!!

Wow! Great job. I had a frugal wedding too, back in the day when frills and limos were the norm. It's kinda nice to see couples are coming back to that. I always said I was just as married at the end of the day as someone who went all out, and that's really what it's about anyhow. Many people still say they enjoyed our 'down home' out door affair more than other weddings since.

My question: did you glue/sew those flowers to the hem of the flower girl's dress to match the wedding colours?

Those are really pretty dresses, and doesn't it feel great when you know that your family's Wedding was just as pretty as anyone else's, except you didn't bankrupt the family to pay for a ONE DAY EVENT!! Who else CARES if the dress you're packing away with dirt on the tail and punch stains cost $5,000? In one Day all that money is gone down the drain.I'm glad to know there are still Mothers and Daughters out there that don't lose their heads when planning a wedding. A GREAT JOB!
