How would you like a quick and easy way to make a facial scrub?
A simple facial scrub that gently exfoliates your skin and that leaves your skin soft and smooth.
All you need is some rosewater and some finely ground almonds.
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
2. Cleanse your face with your usual cleanser and toner.
3. Pour about a quarter to half a teaspoon of ground almonds into the palm of your hand.
4. Pour a few drops of rosewater into the ground almonds and mix into a paste. Add more rose water if needed. This paste has to be able to spread easily on your face. This is your scrub.
5. Now spread the scrub on your clean face and massage gently avoiding eyes and mouth to exfoliate your skin.
6. Rinse off with lots of water.
7. Pat dry. The almond oil in the ground almonds conditions and moisturizes your skin. If you need more moisture, then use your usual moisturizer.
One thing about these home made scrubs is that they cannot keep. You make a little at a time as and when you are going to use it. For convenience, and better results I still prefer these face and body scrubs.
Easiest: I keep a container of baking soda in the bathroom. Add a couple drops of essential oil like eucalyptus or lavender. Wet palm sprinkle on about a T, and use as a facial scrub. Works great. I do this just before showering and then rinse completely in the shower. Very economical, too!
A second easy scrub is to pour about a t of extra virgin olive oil into your palm. Sprinkle on raw sugar to make a paste. Add a squirt of honey. The oatmeal for me hasn't been "scrubby" enough and is more like a mask. These ingredients rinse easily away especially if you do so in the shower!
I have been making my own exfoliating scrub for years with the two most inexpensive products on the market - oatmeal and cornmeal.
Method: In small food processor, add 1 cup of oatmeal. Grind till almost a powder. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of cornmeal, and process again for 30 seconds. Pour into clean jar with tight lid (I use a cannning jar), and store in your bathroom cabinet. Make small batches at a time to ensure the oat and corn meal are fresh.
Use: For convenience and easy clean up, I use mixture while taking a shower. Pour tablespoon of scrub into small plastic cup (to avoid accident with glass jar). Add small amount of hot water and let sit. Wash face as usual. Pour scrub into hands, mix into paste, and, in gentle circular motion, apply to face and neck (don't forget lips!). Rinse thoroughly and apply mosturizer.
According to friends, who have used my scrub, their feedback is: Sensitive skin - 2-3 times/week, Normal/Oily skin - may be used everyday, Mature skin - 2-4 times/week.
I have learned from friends in the dermatology field to avoid exfoliating products containing crushed fruit pits, such as peaches, apricots, prunes etc. as they scratch the skin surface.
I would love to hear your feedback on this scrub.

Making a delicious salt or sugar scrub is the easiest thing in the world. They make great gifts, too!
1/2 cup fine sea salt (table salt) or sugar
1/3 - 1/2 cup jojoba oil or other oil
5-10 drops of essential oil, such as rose, eucalyptus, or anything you like
Mix ingredients in a glass jar. Use a jar that has extra room so it is big enough to mix everything without creating a mess. You could also use a mixing bowl and then transfer everything to a jar or jars for storage. I like jojoba oil for it's non-greasy quality and neutral scent, but any oil can be used.
